Planning lessons is fundamental to ensuring the delivery of teaching and learning in
schools. System of Learning Plan Preparation is a set of guidelines which aim to support teachers in organizing and managing their classes and lessons effectively and efficiently and ensure the achievement of learning outcomes. Furthermore, these guidelines affirm the role of the K to 12 teachers as a facilitator of learning. Preparing for lessons through the Detailed Learning Plan provides teachers with an opportunity for reflection on what learners need to learn, how learners learn, and how best to facilitate the learning process. These guidelines also aim to empower teachers to carry out quality instruction that recognizes the diversity of learners inside the classroom, is committed to learners’ success, allows the use of varied instructional and formative assessment strategies including the use of information and communications technologies (ICTs), and enables the teacher to guide, mentor, and support learners in developing and assessing their learning across the curriculum. Learning Plan Preparation consists of five (5) phases. I. Identification. To understand the current problems faced by teachers in preparing learning plans, a background analysis needs to be undertaken. Knowledge acquisition aims to gain knowledge in the domain problem which is the preparation of the learning plans. In Background Analysis, teachers in schools generally face numerous problems and issues in preparing their lesson plans. Problems faced by teachers in preparing learning plans have been studied and their potential solutions were identified. II. Review on the Different Areas of Learning Plans. A review/ walkthrough of the different parts of learning through INSET and other similar trainings and workshops will be conducted to teachers. III. Implementation. The implementation refers to the actual drafting/ designing of the Subject Learning Plan guided by the subject curriculum map. This can also be done by retrieving previous learning plans, reusing and revising those lesson plans and subsequently retaining them in the same system after some modifications. IV. Submission and Checking. Prior to the Opening of Classes for every school year, or at the start of each quarter, whenever is possible, subject teachers are required to submit their learning plans for checking and approval of the Principal or the Academic Coordinator -in-charge. V. Revisions (if needed). In cases where subject teachers are advised to modify or revise some parts of the learning plan, at this phase, they will be asked to do the suggestions/recommendations.
