Uster HVI:
Function of HVI: The testing of fibers was always of importance to the
spinner. It is done by the HVI machine. High volume instrument systems
are based on the fibre bundle strength testing, ie, many fibres are
checked at the same time and their average values determined.

Principle of HVI: High volume instrument systems are based on the fibre
bundle testing, that is many fibres are checked at the same time and their
average values determined. Traditional testing using micronaire, pressley,
stelometre, and fibro graph are designed to determine average value for a large
number of fibres, the so called fibre bundle tests. In HVI, the bundle testing
method is automated.

USTER AFIS:

Function of Afis:
Advanced Fibre Information System is based on the single fibre testing.
There are two modules, one for testing the number of neps and the size
of neps, while the other one is used for testing the length and the
diameter. Both modules can be applied separately or together.

Working principle :
A fibre sample of approximately 500 mg is inserted between the feed
roller and the feed plate of the AFIS-N instrument Opening rollers open
the fibre assembly and separate off the fibres, nep, trash and dust. The
trash particles and dust are suctioned off to extraction. On their way
through the transportation and acceleration channels, the fibres and nep
pass through the optical sensor, which determines the number and size
of the nep.

USTER EVENNESS TESTER:

Function: The instrument or M/C by which unevenness (U%) , co-
efficient of variation of mass (CVm%), yarn hairiness, imperfection index
(IPI) and thick, thin place, neps etc of yarn, roving sliver can be
measured or calculated is called Uster Evenness Tester.

Working principle :
Raw material as well as spinning problem can be detected by the
measurement of yarn evenness which is done by evenness tester

The quality parameter is determined by a capacitive sensor. In this case

the yarn, roving or sliver is passed through the electric field of a
measuring capacitor. Mass variation of the material causes the
disturbance of the electric field which are converted into electric signal.
Which is proportional to the mas variation of the material. The
unevenness is recorded as a diagram.

USTER BALE MANAGER :

Function: The function of Bale Management is very much unique to

the Spinning Industry. The module should have a function in such a way
that the system should automatically generate the issues for Mix or a
Count, where all the Lay down or Issues should have a consistent
quality parameter both in terms of average and SD.The system should
be capable of generating the Issues or Lay down as per the User
requirements like:
● Standard Distribution – The average Quality of all Parameters
are same from the first issue to the final issue.
● Normal Distribution – The Issue should contain the required
average for the selected Quality parameters and it should
follow the theory of normal distribution.
● Moving point distribution – If the user prefers to have a very
narrow working range for the selected Quality parameter, the
system should generate the issue and according to the
availability the shift in the parameter should happen
gradually till all the bales are exhausted in the Lot. For
example if the User would like to have the Micronaire working
range of 4.2 to 4.6. After exhausting the bales in 4.6
Micronaire, the system should automatically shift to 4.1 to
4.5. After exhausting 4.5, the system should go for 4.0 to 4.4.

USTER CLASSIMATE:

Function of classimat:
It offers the most technically-advanced sensors and superior hardware to
detect and eventually classify all types of defects. This unique sensor
range has all the options covered:
▪ The new capacitive sensor identifies nep both short and fine , as well as
troublesome thick and thin places that previously could not be detected until
showing up in the final fabric.
▪ The latest foreign fibre sensor, using multiple light sources to locate and
classify contamination in yarns, even separating colourful fibre and
vegetable matter in cottons and blends, to distinguish potentially non-
disturbing materials from real defects.
▪ A novel sensor combination, enabling polypropylene content to be detected
and classified for the first time.
▪ Unique range of advanced sensors covering every option for yarn defect
classification
▪ New capacitive sensor with enhanced detection capabilities
▪ Foreign-matter technology, able to distinguish all colourful and non-
disturbing materials
▪ Breakthrough in polypropylene detection, based on novel sensor
combination
▪ New mounting module, special guides and tension control, ensuring
ultimate accuracy.
