TASK: Make a summary of the video for the tourist arriving at Barcelona according to the following plan:

1. Background information
2. The possible itinerary ( including  brief  descriptions of the major sights)
3. Your own opinion

1. Barcelona is the really important and independent city in the history and culture of Catalunya. Needless to
say, that this city has rich history! Catalunya has its own distinct language, history, and flag.

2. Let’s start our itinerary from the Barcelona's ever-popular strolling boulevard is the Ramblas. It’s always
full of crowds of tourists, because of the souvenir shops all around.
Second place will be La Boqueria. It’s just steps off the busy boulevard, is Barcelona's lively fish and
produce market.
Now we are going to see the Columbus Monument. It’s located in the bottom of the Ramblas.
Just beyond the Columbus Monument, a modern wave-like extension of the boulevard, called the Rambla
del Mar, stretches into the harbor.
Next, we are going to visit Barcelona's old center calles the Gothic Quarter.
It is an area of the city full of narrow streets, charming squares, bustling schoolyards, and rich cultural
treasures.
Our next spot - the Picasso Museum. Because Pablo Picasso spent his teenage years in Barcelona, it has
the best collection of his early art anywhere.
Our next destination is the boulevard Passeig de Gràcia. Here are some of the best mansions of
Barcelona.
We’ll visit Casa Milà. It’s Barcelona's quintessential building from the era of Antoni Gaudí. Gaudí's most
famous work is his unfinished Church of the Holy Family, or Sagrada Família. He worked on it for over
40 years, until his death in 1926.
Work continues on the church, which is not expected to be completed for another 50 years.
We're heading out to colorful Park Güell. Gaudí actually lived in this mansion. Gaudí intended this 30-
acre garden to be a 60-residence housing project - a kind of gated community. Fanciful viaducts
compliment the natural landscape. Gaudí actually lived in this mansion.
Next location for the tour will be monastery of Montserrat. Montserrat means "serrated mountain" - and
you see why as you approach.
For a radically different slice of Catalunya, we're heading north up the Costa Brava. The town of Figueres
has the Salvador Dalí Museum - the essential Dalí sight. Ever the entertainer and promoter, Dalí personally
designed, decorated, and painted it to showcase his life's work. Dalí produced some of the most thought-
provoking and trailblazing art of the 20th century. His surrealistic imagery continues to disturb and intrigue
to this day.
Dalí enjoyed his most creative years nearby in the fishing village of Cadaqués, which has long been a
haven for intellectuals and artists alike.
Its craggy coastline, sun-drenched colors, and laid-back lifestyle inspired artists from Matisse and
Duchamp, to Picasso.
Here we will finish our journey.
3. Need to say that after watching the video, my attitude toward Barcelona has changed. I had never been there,
but in my opinion, it was an overrated tourists spot on the map. Now I realized that Barcelona is not just a
tourist destination! It is a real living monument to culture and history. And I want to visit it so badly.
