3 Procedure
This section provides instructions for installing the RRU11 and RRU22. There
are two types of RRU11, one with RET connector and one without. There are
two types of RRU22, The 20 W and the 40 W. The RRU22 20 W can also
operate on 100-250 V AC by employing optional equipment. The RRU22
21IV40, RRU 22 2140, RRU 22 1940 and RRU 22 0840 (40 W) are equipped
with a Fan Unit.

Warning!
Risk for falling objects, work at height in progress. Falling objects can cause
serious injury or even be fatal. Always wear a helmet and avoid standing in
the danger area.
There are two different mounting equipment for pole or mast mounting:
• Mounting bracket: supports one, two, or three RRU22 units and pole
diameters between 35 mm and 155 mm.
1. Place the upper mounting fixture in the desired position on the pole.
Note: The washers and nuts for the studs indicated in the figure must
be saved for later use.

2. Fasten the washers and nuts until fingertight to the clamp bolts. Adjust
the mounting fixture so that the clamp bolts run parallel on each side
of the pole. Tighten the inner M10 nuts to a torque of 41 Nm, using a
torque wrench fitted with a 16 mm open end head.

Note:The wrench holding the inner nuts must stay still while tightening
the outer nuts.

If a working platform with sufficient working space is available near the intended
position of the RRU on the pole or mast, continue the mounting procedure
by performing the steps on Page 23.
If a working platform is not available near the intended position of the RRU on
the pole or mast, continue the mounting procedure by performing the steps
on Page 29.
Perform the following steps if a working platform is available near the intended
position of the RRU on the pole or mast.
Note: Check if the working space on the working platform is sufficient for
working on an RRU that is laid down.
4. Hoist the RRU up to a working platform near its position on the mast
or pole. Attach a rope to the eyes of the RRU for lifting it up. Attach
another rope to the hole in the lower part of the rear cover, and pull
it while hoisting the RRU to avoid dangling.
Note: To avoid to much load in the rope, make sure that the top angle
of the triangle rope is less than 90.

Mounting brackets hold one, two, or three RRU22 units. Perform the following
steps to install additional RRUs on a mounting bracket.
B000092A
14. Position the bracket so, that middle of the side flanges is best aligned
with the center of the pole. This means, that the screw is to go through:
• the hole at the open end of the bracket frame and into the nut welded
in the mounting fixture in case of a thick (115-155 mm dia.) pole
• the middle hole and into the nut welded in the mounting fixture in
case of a medium thick (75-115 mm dia.) pole
• the hole furthest away from the open end of the frame and into the nut
welded in the mounting fixture in case of a thin (35-75 mm dia.) pole
Tighten the screws fixing the bracket to the mounting fixture to a torque
of 41 Nm using an open ended torque wrench.

In case the target layout is a two RRU installation, continue the procedure
by performing the steps on Page 35
In case the target layout is a three RRU installation, continue the procedure
by performing the steps on Page 36
Note: Do not skip the previous steps of installing an RRU on the front flange of
the mounting bracket. Those steps are required to properly position and install
the upper and lower mounting brackets.

Do!
As soon as the equipment is unpacked in an outdoor environment, the
installation procedure must be carried out and the equipment must be turned
on. The equipment must be kept powered even when it is not being used for
service.
Note: Before leaving the site the RRU must be powered up, which is essential
for its future operation.
Caution!
2. Ensure that the operation indicator of the RRU displays a green light.
Note: The green light normally appears within 5 seconds of the power
being switched on. At lower temperatures, below -20C, the
process can take up to 10 minutes.
For details on starting up the RRU and verifying the installation, see:
Environment
Ericsson strongly advises that when cleaning up after installing the RBS,
the personnel performing the installation must pay particular attention to the
environment. Primarily, recycle all waste materials that can be recycled and
sort waste so that it can be disposed of according to local regulations.
