Bozeman, Mont. —The City of Bozeman has narrowed its Chief of Police search to three finalists.
The recruitment began in November with the City’s selected executive search firm, Ralph
Andersen & Associates, meeting with the City Commission members, the City’s Executive
Leadership Team, community stakeholders and the police department’s staff. The City also held
an online community meeting which was open to the entire Bozeman community. Information
gathered from these meetings provided input into the recruitment and selection process.
Six candidates were invited to interview via videoconference on Monday, February 22, 2021 with
interview panels including community stakeholders and the City’s leadership. Feedback from the
interview panels strongly supported advancing three finalists.
The three finalists, Jim Baumstark, Eric Paulson, and Jim Veltkamp will be in Bozeman on March
18-19, 2021. The City of Bozeman will host a virtual community forum on Thursday evening,
March 18, as part of the interview process. Details for the forum are being finalized and will be
provided next week.
