FLOWERS FOR MOTHER


This is a story about Apolinario Mabini. One day Pule’s
mother was waiting for her children to come home from
school. After a while she heard some voices from the yard.
She was glad her sons were already home. “Mother! Mother!”
called one of her sons. “Pule will be a little late. He said he
has something to get for you.” A little late Pule came. He had
some flowering plants with him. “These are for you, Mother,”
Pule said. “I got them for you along the way. I know you love
flowers.” How thoughtful Pule was! Instead of getting angry,
his mother felt very happy.

THE ARTESIAN WELL

Nonoy lived in a little barrio far from the town. He had to wake
up early morning to fetch water from a well. He had to make
several trips before he could fill a big jar. One day men came to
the barrio to drill an artesian well. In ten days, the artesian
well was ready. It was like there was a fiesta. Barrio people
lined up to get water. When Nonoy’s turn came, he took a long
drink. How cool and satisfying the water tasted!
