Part 2
I’d like you to imagine that the residents of your building are
working on the rules to live there. Here are some of the ideas
that you need to analyse together. Now, you have some time to
look at the task.

whether you agree or disagree with them.

Rules to live together

You live in the same building and the residents are working on
the rules to live there. These are some of the ideas:

• People can’t have pets in their flats.


• Parties are not allowed from Sunday to Thursday.
• Everybody must pay the security guard. It doesn’t matter if nobody is
currently living in your flat.
• You can’t use the lift if you are carrying bags with rubbish. It doesn’t
matter if you live on the 10th floor.

Discuss whether you agree or disagree with these rules.

You don’t need to discuss all the topics. Speak for about 3 minutes.
Part 3
• What are the pros and cons of living in a building? What are the pros and
cons of living in a big house?

• Should the elderly live with their relatives or in large homes with other elderly
people? Why?

• What do you think houses in the future will be like?

• Some people say they get bored if they spend too much time at home. Do
you agree?

• Is it better to live in a busy city or in the countryside? Why?

• Which would you rather spend your money on: a wonderful house or
wonderful holidays?

Part 2

neighbourhood. These are some ideas the authorities have to
make it safer. Now, you have some time to look at the task.

whether you agree or disagree with them. You can add
other ideas.

Making our neighbourhood a safe place

You are living in an unsafe neighbourhood. These are some of the ideas the
authorities have to make it safer:

• If you are going out of town, your neighbours must be informed.


• The authorities can install fake security cameras, so criminals think they are
being observed (but they are not).
• Security cameras can be installed, but the neighbours are the ones who will have
to pay for it.
• Let your kids play in the street so criminals know that there are people around.
