Topic: In some countries, some criminal trials in law courts are shown on television so that

the general public can watch. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Answer:
Nowadays, some countries in the world decide to publish a number of criminal convictions
in law courts on a television channel, that allows everyone to follow the whole process of
convicting a criminal. This phenomenon brings us about both significant benefits and
apparent drawbacks.
On the one hand, showing criminal trials on public media such as television results in many
advantages. One of the main cons is giving the children real examples of criminology. These
examples are not as boring as some law lessons which taught in schools; therefore, they
appeal to the children more than the lessons. By this attraction, children will absorb many
regulations and bans which are currently effective in their countries. This is likely to prevent
them from breaking the law in the future. Furthermore, their parents can also have a good
grasp of the law system by watching the trials on TV and teach their offspring about the
knowledge, that will contribute to inhibiting the young to commit a crime.
Children, on the other hand, also could take the offenders on public media as their role
models for a wild lifestyle which is believed as no-rule-at-all world among adolescents. As a
result, they could repeat the offender’s mistake in their future life, giving a rise of seriously
illegal actions. One example of this is that there are a growing number of secondary and
high schools in Vietnam has reported the large proportion of pupils abusing substances like
methamphetamine because of being affected by public media. The parents could also be
terrified of the possibility of infringing upon the law among their children and prevent the
juveniles from watching every single program, resulting in the lack of law knowledge among
their offspring. This could lead the youth to more chance of breaking the laws.
On the whole, having criminal convictions on public media gives us some benefits, it also
exposes the risks of increasing the number of criminal violence among humans. The
government should impose a ban on showing criminal trials on public channels such as
television.
