We explain below in detail how the course curriculum is covered over the 9-
week intensive study period. You will find all information about how to
engage with the weekly program, course literature, as well as information
about the compulsory assignments, course evaluation and final grading. The
figure below demonstrates the cycle of completing the weekly assignments.

1. Familiarize yourself with the weekly material.

2. Do the weekly assignments and remember to post them to forums etc.,

(depending on the week).
3. Write the personal portfolio reflection.

4. Copy the (improved) weekly assignment and personal portfolio reflection to

your portfolio.

Weekly assignments

There is an assignment every week, that is 7 weeks. You may also complete
the assignments ahead of schedule.

Weekly assignments concern a certain theme. You are asked, for example, to
find additional information, utilize the course book, or watch videos. You will
return the weekly assignments and often also comment on other people's
work. Also, the course instructors will follow the discussion and comments.

Personal portfolio

In addition to weekly assignments, you will compile all weekly assignments

and personal portfolio reflections from each week into one portfolio and add
additional reflection that is instructed separately every week. There is a
template in this platform that you can use. After the deadline, the portfolio
cannot be improved. The deadline for the portfolio is 6.4. at 11.55 p.m. This
deadline cannot be postponed (not even if you encounter technical
difficulties), so make sure you submit your portfolio on time and do not leave
it to the last minute!

Peer evaluation

You will complete a peer evaluation for two of peer's portfolio. You will see
the two portfolios here in the platform after the portfolio deadline. The
deadline for the two evaluations is 13.4. at 11.55 p.m.

Why peer evaluation?

By evaluating peer assignment, you will learn more about the content, but
also improve your skills in giving constructive written feedback, which is often
demanded, for example, in virtual teamwork. You should also remember that
the style of the feedback needs to be carefully considered. You develop
critical thinking by analyzing your peer's assignment and problem-solving by
suggesting ideas for improvement.

NB! If you do not provide sufficient peer evaluation (i.e., comments only on
language, outlook, or very generally), your score will be automatically
deducted by 10 points.

Exam

During 18.-24.11.2019 you will complete an online exam that deals with key
concepts in this course. The exam is in the platform, so you can complete it
anywhere you want. The exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions. You
have 60 minutes to complete the exam and you may do it whenever you want
during the above period. The exam counts for 50 points in the course grade.
To pass the course, you will have to get at least 25 points in the exam. A re-
exam will be open 6.4.–13.4. (during this period, you can complete the exam
twice). There are no additional exams. The time periods of the exams cannot
be changed. You will see your score in the platform after the exam is closed
(the following day).

Language

You may use either Finnish or English in the assignments. However, all the
assignments must be completed by using the same language. Finnish and
English portfolios will be returned into different locations.

COURSE GRADE

The course grade consists of peer-evaluation of your portfolio (2 x 25 points)

and online exam (50 points). In the exam, you must get at least 25 points in
order to pass the course. Concerning the peer evaluations, you must receive
at least 5 points from both evaluations.
Assignments and evaluation

reflections)
