Overview
The primary purpose of this topic is to help students learn and practice some
essential basic elements in First Aid to be able provide immediate help to a sick or
injured person until professional medical help arrives or becomes available but
please do remember that:
To preserve life
To prevent further harm and complications
To seek immediate medical help
To provide reassurance
And it is very important to know that according to Revised Penal Code Article 12 –
“any person who, while performing a lawful act with due care, causes an injury by
mere accident without fault or intention of causing it” is exempt from criminal liability.

BANDAGING
When it comes to first aid, there are two main types of bandages.
The first are roller bandages, which are typically used for holding a dressing in
place.
The second is a triangular bandage. While triangle bandages are most often
used for making slings, they are very versatile – as you can see by these
many uses for a triangular bandage.
BANDAGE
A triangular bandage is made from a strong type of cloth which has been cut
into a right-angle triangle. The triangle can be folded down into a “cravat.”
Dimensions
1. Choose your fabric: Any sturdy fabric can be used for a triangle
bandage, such as an old bedsheet. However, it is generally best to
choose a sturdy fabric which has a slight amount of stretch to it. The
stretch is important for uses where you need a cravat instead of a
triangle.
2. Cut the fabric into a square of 40×40 inches
3. Cut the square in half. You now have two triangle bandages
measuring 40x40x56 inches.
4. Sterilize the bandage: You can do this by boiling the bandages for
several minutes, or by soaking them in disinfectant. Don’t skip this step
– especially in case you need it for treating a bleeding wound.
5. Iron and Fold: Ironing makes it easier to fold.
6. Store in a Sterile Bag: Then put it in with your first aid supplies.

Activity 1
Instruction:
1. All students are required to practice and apply what they have learned in CPR
using a doll or dummy. The entire activity will be recorded through video and
it will be submitted to the teacher on a specified time assigned by the teacher.
2. In the absence of a dummy or doll . It must be assured that the students must
not use any partner or companion during the conduct of the activity due to the
existing circumstances.
3. Any concerns regarding the activity must inform the teacher first before taking
an action.
Activity 2
Instruction:
1. All students are tasked to practice and apply what they have learned in the
bandaging and it must be recorded in video to be submitted to the teacher
evaluation.
2. During the conduct of activity, the first aider and the patient should always
follow the health protocols set by the government to avoid any untoward
incidents.
3. Any concerns regarding the activity must inform the teacher first before taking
an action.
