INTRODUCTION

Praise and gratitude the author owe to almighty god because for his grace and his father's life the
writer can solve the critical book report well and in time.

As for my critical book report is the English dtudy for Geography. As for the purpose of this
critical book report, I do is to fulfill the duty my lecturer has given me. The writer also
acknowledges that there is still a shortage and still a long way from perfection. The author hopes
that the reader will be able to criticize or suggestion to supplement the flaw in these critical book
reports.

This is the critical book report I have created. When there is error in this critical book report, I
apologize and beg for advice and criticism. The end of my words is thank you.

PROEM

1. BACKGROUND

English is one of the most widely studied and used international languages to communicate
between nations. This fits the role of English as the global language presented by crystal (2003:
3) that English ACTS asa global or world language because it is learned and used asa means of
communicating in various countries both as the first language, the second language, and asa
foreign language.

In Indonesia, English is the first foreign language learned asa subject subject from middle school
to college. According to itje chodidja, the British council education adviser (in mudjito (2009)
claims that teachers have not so far been successful as English speakers. As a result, English
education at grade school must still be developed and consistent. Many of the obstacles
encountered in English study lie mainly with teachers because they are facilitators and catalysts
that can stimulate the language potential in students. Their basic problem is how to apply the
language to students and this occurs for various causes.
