1.- TYPES OF LANDSCAPES

There are two important types of natural landscapes:
- Coastal landscapes (paisajes de costa).
- Inland landscapes (paisajes de interior).

2.- ELEMENTS OF THE LANDSCAPES

INLAND:
- Mountain range (cordillera): it is a group of mountains.

- Plain (llanura): it is a flat land. Flat = plano.

- Hill (colina): it is a small elevation of land.

- Valley (valle): it is a land between the mountains. Between = entre.

- Plateau (meseta): it is flat elevation of land.

COASTAL
- Bay (bahía): it is a body of water enclosed by land.

- Gulf (golfo): it is a large bay.

- Cape (cabo): it is a land extended into the sea.

- Island (isla): it is a land entirely surrounded by water. Surrounded: rodeado.

- Peninsula: it is a land nearly surrounded by water connected to the mainland by an

isthmus​ (istmo). Nearly = casi. Mainland = tierra principal.

4.- COASTS OF SPAIN
In Spain there are three coasts:
- Cantabrian coast
- Atlantic coast
- Mediterranean coast

What are the main landforms in Castilla y León?

Mountains: Cantabrian Range, Iberian System, Central System, North Plateau.
River: Duero.
NATURAL RESOURCES

Humans change the landscapes to obtain natural resources (recursos) that they
need to live.

PLANTS: ​OXYGEN, ​WOOD (​paper, houses, furniture [muebles])​, ENERGY,

RESIN (​glue, paint…​), ​FOOD ​(fruit, nuts [frutos secos]…).

WATER: ​DRINK,​ FOOD (fish, seafood, salt, algae…), ENERGY (hydroelectric

power plants).

ANIMALS: FOOD (milk, meat, cheese…), wool (lana)., company.

LAND: MINERALS, METALS, ENERGY (petrol [plastic], coal, (carbón),

natural gas…)...

AIR​: ENERGY​ (wind power plants​).

SUN: light, heat (calor), ENERGY (solar power plants).
