1. Rectangle

Based on definition of area, so the area of rectangle, A=bh

2. Square

Based on the area of rectangle, we get the corollary which is A=s 2

3. Parallelogram

Given : parallelogram with altitude BE, heigh h = BE, and length of base b= DC
Prove : The area of ABCD is A=bh

Here is the proof :

4. Triangle

Here is the proof :

Given : an any triangle ABC with base b and altitude h

1
Prove : A= bh
2

5. Trapezoid
Here The Proof of trapezoid

6. Rhombus

d1

d2

There are 2 congruent triangle. That is left side and right side.

So the area is 2 times a triangle

A=2 ( 12 d 2. d21 )
1
A= d 1. d 2

7. Reguler Polygon

Here is the prove of area regular polygon and it can be used for any regular polygon with
n-side.

Because in the Theorem of regular Polygon, all the triangle are congruent. So, we can
said that the perimeter of polygon is side of polygon times n sum of side polygon.

p=nb

Which p is perimeter, n is the sum of side, b is length of the side

1
So, the area is A= abn for every regular polygone

8. Circle
We will prove the area of circle using the polygon approximation with infinity side.

If we put the square in the circle, its not good approximation because there are 4 big area
wich is not be include. But if we take the 8, 16, or more polygon, the are which is not
include is be smaller. Continueng this manner, the good approximation is the infinity-
gon which is the shape is circle. So the area :
1
A= ap
2
Because the perimeter of circle is 2 πr (it is from definition of π) and the altitude of
infinity-gon is also r. So,
1
A= r ( 2 πr )
2
A=π r 2

9. Volume of Right Prism

To find the volume of this prism, recall definition of volume cubic units

So for the area of Prism,

V =Bh
where B is the are of base∧h is height .

10. Cylinder

Because the base of cylinder is a circle so B=π r 2. Then the volume of cylinder:

V =π r 2 h

where h is height of cylinder .
