THE CAVE OF SULTAN

• Iltumish erected earliest of Muslim tombs on Indian soil


• Sultan Ghari- “Cave of the Sultan” AD 1231
• Tomb of his son Nasir-ud-din Shah
• Set in the middle of the courtyard of a small mosque
• The entire construction sits on 10ft high plinth with domed circular towers
making the corners of the courtyard.
• Conveys the impression of a mini fort
