8.0 Balcony

8.1 Design/Construction/Installation

8.1.1 Usage
Balconies are typically used to mount and interconnect the following equipment:

A. SA-HU-40 type hydraulic power units, hydrostatic drive units and hydraulic valve stands.
B. Weld Control Panels (WC2's.WC3's,etc.)as required.
C. Electrical enclosures to house programmable controllers, induction cure equipment, associated
power supplies, and any required I/O racks.
D. Power and interface panels to house motor starters and interface relays.
E. Surge tanks.

8.1.5 Accessibility
Balcony must be designed and constructed to provide accessibility to all electrical, hydraulic and
pneumatic installations (NO SOLID PLATING ON BOTTOM SIDE OF BALCONY PERMITTED).

8.1.6 Hydraulic Power Unit Considerations


Provide a removable balcony rail section in the vicinity of hydraulic power units to provide access for
maintenance or removal.

8.1.8 Stairway Location


Coordinate the stairway location with plant layout.

8.1.9

8.1.10 Length and Height


Exact length and height of balconies must be determined in Design by the Supplier and subject to
approval by Chrysler Group LLC Tool Process Engineering and the receiving plant.

8.1.11 Removal of Balcony Legs for Shipping


Design and construction of the balcony must accommodate the removal of balcony legs for shipping.

8.1.13 Fluorescent Lighting


Provide continuous 4 foot or 8 foot fluorescent lighting, per Chrysler Group LLC Approved Source List,
mounted to bottom side of the balcony, for each fixture that is mounted under a balcony.

8.1.14 Robot Welding Stations


The balcony must not be built over the robot welding stations.

8.1.15 Balcony Hole Cutouts


All balcony hole cutouts must have 1" x 1" x 1/8" angle guarding, with vertical leg facing down..

8.1.16 Support or Accessory Units


Any support or accessory units needed to enable shipment must be the Supplier's responsibility.

8.1.17 Break Joints Identification


Identify all break joints for ease of reassembly.

8.1.18 Setup and Installation of Balcony - Line Blocks


Line blocks must be used for setup and installation of balcony to shuttle and fixtures.

8.1.19 Control Interconnections


The Supplier is responsible for all interconnections between control enclosures, hydraulic power units and
weld control panels.

8.1.20 Wiring and Piping Runs


Wiring and piping runs from control enclosures to the hydraulic power unit and weld control panels must
be under the balcony floor.

8.1.21 Headers for Water and Air


Headers for water and air must be under the balcony floor and run the full length of the balcony.

A. Water headers must be threaded at both ends of the pipe for proper installation at Chrysler Group
LLC Plant.
B. The Supplier must provide approved shutoff valves at both ends of the main water and air feeds.
C. The Supplier must provide tee connections from main water headers to each bank of fixture weld
controls.

8.1.22 Welding Requirements


Do not weld fence post guarding, or tapping plates to expanded metal or grip strut. They must be welded
to the balcony support structure.

8.1.23 Grip Strut Metal Decking


Open ends of grip strut metal decking must be covered with flat stock at stairways and where platforms
are bolted together.
