I would like to cover about Sierra Club that is a non-profit organization who work to preserve the
diversity of California Floristic Province. It was established in 1892 in California and it have over 3.5
million members. The main link is https://www.sierraclub.org/

it is located in Oakland, California.

3.What is its mission?

The mission of the organization is to exploring, enjoying, practicing, promoting and educating people to
protect and restore the biodiversity.

4.What is one project related to biodiversity that they are doing? Please describe it (Don’t just copy and
paste information form the site... please describe it in your own words).

Sierra Club’s endeavors to protect the biodiversity even beyond of the California Floristic Province. It
conducts multiple campaigns to increase awareness among people. “Inyo Forest Campaign,” is one of
the campaigns which impetuses science-based conservation and biodiversity protections by engaging
with local, regional, and national allies.

5.How are human actions related to the problems they are working on?

The native grassland and vernal pool of habitats is reduced due to the conversion of natural land to
agriculture lands, livestock pasture and urban development. land filling and diversion of the waterway
for agriculture, industrial and residential development also causes extinction of biodiversity. CO2
emission into the environment due to burning too many fossil fuels and coal leads to global warming . All
of this activity is related with human actions.

6.In what ways could You participate in this project/reserve/organization you are reviewing?

I can participate with the organization indirectly by donating and promoting their activities toward my
friends and families and supporting the mission “explore, enjoy, and protect”.
