If you are restoring files from your NMax backup CD, use the Windows Explorer

to copy the files from the CD to your C: drive.

There are several ways to copy the backup files:

You can drag the NMax folder from the CD directly to the C: drive.

--- or ---

Right-click the NMax folder in the CD, then select "Copy".

Click the C: drive then click on the Files panel (the right panel)
then right-click then select "New" then select "Folder", rename the new folder
to "NMax" (without the quotes), then double-click the new NMax folder,
and again click on the files panel (it should be empty initially) then
right-click then select "Paste"

--- or ---

You can use the "Copy" and "Paste" icons on the Windows Explorer toolbar
in copying the files.

How to create the NMax shortcut (icon) on the windows desktop:

1. Copy the existing CAD icon, ex. AutoCAD 2008 or CADian 2008.
To copy the icon, right-click on the CAD icon, then select "Copy",
then right-click anywhere on the blank portion of the windows desktop
then select "Paste".

Now a new icon named "Copy of AutoCAD 2008" (if the Windows log-on is set to
single user)
appears on the desktop. (for Windows log-on that is set for multi-users, the
copied icon's
name is the same as the original AutoCAD icon).

You must rename the new copied AutocAD icon. Right-click the icon then
select "Rename"... Rename it to "NMax Surveying Software 2008 (v7.1)"

2. Edit the NMax icon's properties.

Right-click on the NMax icon then select "Properties"

In the Shortcut tab, edit the contents of the "Target" box, at the end of
the ...acad.exe" append the " /p NMax".
Ex.
From "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2008\acad.exe"
to "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2008\acad.exe" /p NMax

Temporarily, change the contents of the "Start in" box to "C:\NMax".

Click the "Change Icon..." button then browse the NMax folder, select the
blue or red NMax icon.

Click the "OK" button to apply the changes.

Double-click the NMax icon to run or configure NMax.

--- or ---

Just copy the "NMax Surveying Software 2008 (v7.1)" shortcut from the \NMax\Custom
Files folder
in the backup cd to the windows desktop.

How to configure (setup) NMax to run in AutoCAD:

1. Right-click on the AutoCAD Command: prompt (Command Window)

then select "Options..."

2. Click the "Files" tab (the leftmost tab).

It is recommended that you install NMax in the "C:\NMax" folder, or if you have
another partition on your hard disk, ex. D:\ it is better to install NMax on
that
partition, ex "D:\NMax"

2.a. Double-click "Support File Search Path".

2.b. On the right-side, click the "Add..." button.
2.c. A new edit box will appear, type "C:\NMax" (without the quotes) then

NOTE: Just replace the drive letter of the NMax folder if it is not in
drive C:, ex D:\NMax

2.e. Click the "Ok" button or press ENTER.

If a message dialog box appears, just click "OK" or just press ENTER.

3. You must restart NMax.

From the Files menu select "Exit" or click the "X" button (top rightmost icon)
on the titlebar of AutoCAD. Should AutoCAD ask you to save the changes made to
the current drawing, click "No".

4. The NMax.lic contains the NMax serial number, your computer's server code
and the NMax authorization code. It serves as your NMax license file, it is
very
important to make a backup or a print-out of NMax.lic.

If you have a backup of the NMax.lic, copy NMax.lic to the root folder
of Drive C: then restart NMax.

If the NMax.lic is found and valid, NMax will automatically load, then please
proceed to Step 6.

If the NMaxCode is invalid, AutoCAD will automatically exit. At this

stage, you must delete the NMax.lic in the root folder of Drive C:,
use the Windows Explorer to delete the NMax.lic file, then proceed
to Step 5.

5. Restart NMax.
NMax will now initially load and will display a dialog box with the message:

" Could not initialize NMax on this system. "

" To setup NMax, type NMaxInstall at the command prompt. "

Type "nmaxinstall" in the AutoCAD command prompt.

The NMax License Manager will appear. It will ask you for the NMax
authorization
code.

Please take note or write-down the SERVER CODE that the NMax License Manager
has acquired. This SERVER CODE is required in the generation of your unique
authorization code. You must send me the SERVER CODE and your NMax Serial
Number
then I will send your authorization code.

After you have typed-in the authorization code, click the "OK" button or press
ENTER.

If the installation is successful, you should see the loading progress of NMax
in the Command: prompt and the NMax info dialog box will display.

After the installation, the file NMax.lic has been created in the root folder
of Drive C:.

NMax.lic contains the NMax serial number, your computer's server code
and the NMax authorization code. It serves as your NMax license file, it is
very
important to make a backup or a print-out of NMax.lic.

6. In the Setup menu, click "Set the Orientation of Quadrant 1..."

then in the option, select "SW", then click "OK".

7. Again, (sorry...) you must restart AutoCAD (or NMax).

From the Files menu select "Exit" or click the "X" button (top rightmost icon)
on the titlebar of AutoCAD. Should AutoCAD ask you to save the changes made to
the current drawing, click "No".

8. And finally, change/edit the NMax icon's properties.

Right-click on the NMax icon then select "Properties"

Change the contents of the "Start in" box

from "C:\NMax" to your startup folder of your preference.
ex. "C:\Projects" or "C:\Drawing Files"
or if your hard disk has partitions, it is better to create the "Projects"
folder
in the other partition, ex. "D:\Projects"

Then use that "Projects" folder in the "Start-in" of the NMax shortcut
properties.
