A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Physical Education 7

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to do the following:

a. Identify the basic rules and equipment used in Tennis.


b. Recognize the different strokes in Tennis.
c. Appreciate Tennis as a sport.

II. Subject Matter/Content


a. Topic: Tennis
b. Materials: Visual aids, Tennis racket, ball
c. Reference: Physical Education and Health 7 Teacher’s Guide
p. 107-109

III. Procedure

Motivation:
The class will play a game called “Pass the Box”. A box containing strips of
papers will be passed around the class while singing “Baba black sheep”.
Once the song stops, the person who is holding the box will answer a
question. He or she will pick a strip of paper from the box. Some of the strips
of paper contain questions about the previous discussions (badminton and
table tennis). Some also contains questions about tennis.

Activating Prior Knowledge


The questions about Tennis are the following:
1. What does love means? Zero (0)
2. How many games are needed to win a set? Six (6)
3. How many sets are needed win a match? Three
4. How many trials of service is applicable in Tennis? Two (2)
5. How many points are needed to win a game? Four (4)

From these questions, the teacher will introduce the topic of the day.

Acquiring New Knowledge


The teacher will introduce the topic of the day which is Tennis. She
will present the different equipment used in this sport. The teacher will
demonstrate the different strokes in Tennis. After the demonstration, she
will discuss the basic rules in Tennis.

Application
The teacher will present a situation to the class, and the learners
will identify if the situation is a fault or not.

a. The server misses the ball when trying to hit it.


b. The server tosses the ball in the air and then decides to catch it.
c. Touched the baseline or the court with either foot.
d. The ball is served when the receiver is not yet ready.
e. The ball lands outside the service box or does not clear the net
or the net post.

Assessment
To assess what has been learned during the discussion and what is
needs to be further develop, ask the students for clarifications and
questions.

IV. Evaluation

Quiz: In a ¼ sheet of paper, the students will answer the following


questions.
