A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Health 7

Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to do the following:

a. Identify the different strokes and rules in playing Badminton.


b. Perform the sport Badminton, applying the proper gripping, different
strokes and rules.
c. Portray sportsmanship at the end of the game and discussion.

I. Subject Matter/Content
a. Topic: Badminton
b. Materials: Visual aids, Badminton racket, Shuttlecock
c. Reference: Physical Education and Health 7 Teacher’s Guide
p. 101 – 104

II. Procedure

Motivation:
We will play a game called “Arrange Me!”. The teacher will show
jumbled letters, and the students will arrange and identify the word.
(Badminton, Racket, Stroke, Grip, Rules, Dual, Drop, Clear, Smash, Match)

A. Activating Prior Knowledge


After the activity, the teacher will ask the class: Are you familiar
with the words presented? Have you ever played Badminton? If yes,
do you know the rules, the basic strokes and grips?
The teacher will relate the activity and questions asked to the topic
of the day.

B. Acquiring New Knowledge


The teacher will define dual sport. She will introduce the nature
and background of Badminton. After introducing the sport, she will
discuss the different grips and strokes. She will explain and elaborate
the rules of Badminton. Through this, the learners will understand and
gain new knowledge about Badminton.

C. Application
The teacher will let the students play the sport in their own. They
will practice the proper gripping, service and receiving. This activity will
prepare them for a performance test.
D. Assessment
The teacher will observe and assess if the learners are applying the
things they have discussed and talked about.

III. Evaluation
Performance Task:
The teacher will facilitate and officiate a game in Badminton. The learners
will perform the sport applying the rules, proper gripping, and the different
strokes.
The teacher will ask the students to prepare a 1/8 sheet of paper with
their names on it.
The game will be played in doubles. Each game will only have one (1)
set to accommodate everyone in a limited time. The first pair to get the score
of 7 points will be declared as Winner 1 or W1.
The loser of the match will play with the loser of the following match. The
winner of the L Vs. L match will be named as Winner 2 or W2.
The students will be graded base on the point system below per category:

Winner 1 50 points
Winner 2 40 points
Loser 35 points
