 Activity/ies
We will play a game called “Arrange Me!”. The teacher will show jumbled letters, and the
students will arrange and identify the word. (Badminton, Racket, Stroke, Grip, Rules, Dual,
Drop, Clear, Smash, Match)
 Analysis
After the activity, the teacher will ask the class: Are you familiar with the words presented?
Have you ever played Badminton? If yes, do you know the rules, the basic strokes and grips?
The teacher will relate the activity and questions asked to the topic of the day.

 Abstraction

Badminton was believed to be originated from India with its initial name “poona” during
the17th century. It was played by the English Army officers stationed in India and later brought to
England in 1870 by the Duke of Beaufort. It was introduced in a place called Badminton hence
was called The Game of Badminton and became an Olympic sport in 1992. Today, badminton is
governed by the rules of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). It is played in a net on a
regular court where players volley the shuttlecock using a racket over the net. The objective of
this game is to score by landing the shuttlecock on the court of the opponent. This can be played
in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. The badminton court used for singles is slightly narrower than the
badminton court used for doubles.
 Application
The teacher will let the students play the sport in their own. They will practice the proper
gripping, service and receiving. This activity will prepare them for a performance test.

 Generalization

Badminton is classed as a net and wall game. Net and wall games like badminton are played
on a court that is split into two halves by a net, and marked out into different
areas.Badminton is a racket sport that is played by two or four players. A singles game
involves one person playing against another, and a doubles game is when two players
play against another two players. Game play involves the players striking a shuttlecock over
a net into their opposition’s side of the court. Players strike the shuttlecock using a
lightweight, long-handled racket.

Badminton is a fun, active sport which is an easy game to practice with few painless rules.
It boosts up your muscles, adds strength to the muscles, improves blood flow rate and the
benefits are endless. Apart from physical health benefits there are mental advantages of
playing badminton too.

Performance Task:
The teacher will facilitate and officiate a game in Badminton. The learners will perform the
sport applying the rules, proper gripping, and the different strokes. The teacher will ask
the students to prepare a 1/8 sheet of paper with their names on it. The game will be played
in doubles. Each game will only have one (1) set to accommodate everyone in a limited
time. The first pair to get the score of 7 points will be declared as Winner 1 or W1. The loser of the
match will play with the loser of the following match. The winner of the L Vs. L match will be
named as Winner 2 or W2. The students will be graded base on the point system below per
category:
