JUNIOR SCIENTIST SOCIETY

VISAYAS STATE UNIVERSITY – ISABEL CHAPTER

SY: 2022 – 2023

ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
Tree Planting Activity
As part of the activity for the Student’s Week 2023, the Junior Scientist Society
conducted a tree planting activity last May 13, 2023, at Can-Isco, Isabel, Leyte. It started with a
short orientation and discussion with Mrs. Lecil N. Managbanag and Mr. Stephen Y. Sabenorio.
They discussed about the different species that are extinct in our country and the progress and the
positive outcomes of the tree planting activity here in our country.
The activity was supported by the school and Local Government Unit (LGU). The LGU
supported our activity by giving us 60 narra seedlings to plant while the school assigned us a lot
on where we should plant our seedlings. Our school nurse is also present that day to provide first
aid care and health assessment if there is incident that might happen. Fortunately, we are all safe.
Our organization proposed this activity because as we observe today that we experience
extreme heat which results in wide-ranging physiological impacts for us, humans, often
amplifying existing conditions and resulting in premature death and disability. Aside from that,
population exposure to heat is increasing due to climate change, and this trend would continue if
we neglected this issue. With this, our organization conducted a tree planting activity which it
promotes environmental awareness and helps the preservation of our environment.
Our activity was successful, with the help and support of our school, the LGU, our
advisers, and of course, with the cooperation and dedication of the members of the Junior
Scientist Society spearheaded by Mr. Dave Romulus F. Fullon, the president, along with Mr.
Jeanyen Jules Cabrera, the vice president.
