The 5 Basic Badminton Skills
Here are 5 basic badminton skills or the
fundamental skills of Badminton that you
must learn.
1. Grip. A friendly handshake is
analogous to holding a racket. Only the
thumb will rest nicely on the handle
grip's broader surface. A handshake
will be imitated by the rest of the hand.
Remember to maintain a polite
handshake and avoid a strong grasp. It
reduces motion flexibility and, in the
long run, may cause wrist injury.
2. Stance. It is used to get into position
before playing an overhead forehand
stroke. To stand in the attacking stance
turn your body facing the sidelines with
the racket leg behind and both legs
shoulder-width apart. Now raise both
racket and non-racket arms to generate
the power to attack the shuttle on its
downward trajectory.
3. Footwork. When we use the word
‘footwork’ in badminton, we’re
referring to the speed and skill with
which a player moves from one zone of
the court to another during the game.
4. Serve. This is the most important shot
in badminton. It is the only shot that
you have complete control over. A
good serve will give your opponent
trouble and put you in a good position
to win the rally.
5. Smash. In badminton, the smash is the
strongest shot. It's utilized to bring a
rally to a close and earn points. The
smash is usually intended towards your
opponent's backcourt and is hit from
below the height of the net.
D. Application
“Since there is no any questions and
clarifications regarding the topic, let’s now
proceed to our activity to test if you really
listen to my discussion earlier”
“For your activity, find a partner and (The students will participate)
demonstrate the five basic skills of the
badminton in the class.”
E. Evaluation
“For our evaluation, Identify what is being ask
in the following sentences. Write your answer
on the blank space provided before the
number.”
F. Assignment
“For your assignment, you are task to create a
video of yourself explaining the different basic
skills of badminton. This will serve as your
performance task number 1.”
Closing
“Before we will end, let me leave you an
inspiring verse from Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,"
declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and
not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a
future."
“Do you believe in God?” “Yes ma’am”
“So, let us end our class with a prayer,
Lord thank you so much for…..Amen” “Amen”
“Thank you so much everyone, God bless “Thank you ma’am, God bless you too”
you.”
