Description of the module Governance and politics module incorporates four course namely political thought, theories and model
of governance, introduction to governance and politics, and comparative government and political
system.
Objectives of the module This module aimed at equipping students with the necessary knowledge in major political thoughts and
concepts. Moreover, it enables students to understand the various theories and model of governance,
fundamental principles of government and political systems as well as their variations in different
countries of the world.
Module competence The basic competences of the module are;
 familiarized students with the various theories and model of governance;
 Acquainted students about political thoughts of different philosophers;
 Familiarized students with the fundamentals of governance and politics, and
 Acquired the major methods of comparative political analysis and major forms of political systems
across the globe.

Description of the module International Relations module contains four courses. These are introduction to international relations,
international political economy, African politics and international relations, and public international law
and organization.
Objectives of the module This module is aimed at equipping students with the necessary knowledge concerning the concept of
international relations and theories on international relations; to understand the notion of international
political economy and the nature of Africa‘s
governance and international relations. It also aimed to realize conflict and cooperation among nations
and introduce the concept of public international law and organization.
Module competence The basic competences of the module are;
 Introduced students about the concepts, evolution and nature of international relations;
 Acquainted students with the notion, nature and trends of international political economy;
 Familiarized students with international economic law, international trade, regional integration,
international financial institutions and international laws;
 Enabled students to realize the features of Africa‘s politics and international relations
within the framework of the international system;
 Enabled students to realize the relations between politics and economics in the international
system, and
 Introduced students with fundamentals of public international law and organizations.

Module Name Governance and policies in Ethiopia

Description of the module This module incorporates four courses namely Ethiopian foreign policy and diplomacy, political
systems and governance in Ethiopia, federalism and local government in Ethiopia and land and land
systems in Ethiopia: a policy perspective.
Objectives of the module The aim of the module is to enable students to understand Ethiopian foreign policy and diplomacy in
different regimes, to comprehend the political systems and governance in Ethiopia, federalism and local
governance in Ethiopia and its land system in various policy perspectives.
Module competence The basic competences of the module are;
 Familiarized students with Ethiopian policy and diplomacy agendas, priorities and changes in
different regimes;
 Acquainted students with the changing political systems and governance structure of Ethiopia;
 Enabled students to realize the experience of federalism and local government structure and
practices in Ethiopia, and
 Familiarized students with Ethiopian land system in line with its policy perspectives.

Module Name Conflict Management and Human Rights

Description of the module Conflict management and human rights module covers four courses. These are conflict management
and peace building, human right and humanitarian assistance, and introduction to multiculturalism.
Objectives of the module This module is aimed at equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skill in relation conflict
dynamics, conflict resolution and peace building mechanisms. Moreover, the module enables students
to understand the concept of human rights and humanitarian assistance. The module also intended to
aware students about the issues of multiculturalism and diversity.
Module competence The basic competences of the module are;
 Introduced students about the concept and dynamics of conflict and conflict management;
 Enabled students to realize mechanisms of conflict resolution and peace building;
 Familiarized students with the notion, nature, scope and practices of human rights and humanitarian
assistances;
 Acquainted students with the concept multiculturalism and diversity;
 Introduce students with multicultural issues and accommodation of diversity in Ethiopia,
 Familiarized students with different cultural, historical and geographical heritages.
