Answers to the Activity:

1. Explain the result of your survey from the visual presentation of word cloud.
(include the number of responses and respondents, etc.)

I conducted a self-designed survey which anchored on the terms related

to EDUCATION. The survey composed of 1 query with 15 options. There
were 20 respondents who participated and all were instructed to pick out
all the choices that interest them based on their personal precedence. After
conducting the survey, I have gathered 89 responses. Based on the result,
the term ACADEMIC got the highest number of votes which is 15. It is
followed by SCHOLARLY and BOOKWORM and got a score of 10. The
terms BOOKISH and INTELLIGENTSIA ranked third and both terms got
8 votes. The fourth spot is the term INTUITION and got 7 votes. Next to it
is the term DIALECTICS and got 5 points. Five terms ranked sixth place
and all got 4 votes. The terms are VOCATIONAL, ERUDITION, CRASS
IGNORANCE, DILETTANTE and BLUE STOCKING. The seventh place
is the term HIGHBROW and got a score of 3. TABULA RASA is placed in
the eight with 2 points. And the last term with only 1 vote is
AVOCATIONAL. The results are presented visually using word cloud.

2. What have you realized after getting information about you survey?

I have realized that out from the collaborative documentation of the

survey, the terms which are familiar to the respondents are what truly
interest them the most.

3. How do you find the activity? For you, when is the best time to use this kind of
activity?

I seldom appreciate things and this activity is highly appreciated. It

was very interactive and interesting. I got the chance to explore and
navigate about the things I haven’t known before. My first time making a
word cloud was truly a remarkable one. At first, I had a difficulty in
making it but after thorough and constant practice, I was able to make my
word cloud visual presentation presentable.
For me, the best time to use this kind of activity is NOW. Knowing that
we are in the midst of pandemic and most of the students are into online
learning, utilizing this kind kind of activity is a good avenue to let students
explore and discover. It also allows students to exercise their higher order
thinking skills---analytical, problem-solving, critical and creative thinking
skills. In that way, we can assure that learning doesn’t remain stagnant.

4. As a pre-service teacher, what actions will you take as you prepare yourself in
handling millennial students?

Millennial students are very tech-savvy and see technology as a

necessity in most aspects of their life including learning. Successful
teaching requires an understanding and appreciation of the learners’
needs, backgrounds, interests, and learning styles. As early as now, I must
prepare myself in battling my future career soon. The following are actions
that must be taken in order for me to be ready in handling millennial
students:

 Become aware of my own generation’s characteristics and consider

how they might impact my teaching style.
 Watch a short video online, ‘‘Who are the Millennials?’’ (Hamilton
2009) to keep abreast with their characteristics.
 Recognize the environmental and cultural forces that affect the
Millennial Learner.
 Avoid assumptions about current learners’ motivations to
consistently encourage curiosity and discovery.
 I should identify my teaching or life philosophy.
 Learn how to utilize current eLearning technologies. Good
teaching is not replaced by technology, but rather enhanced by it.

Every generation of teachers faces challenges related to the inherent

separation in age from their learners and from the consequent differences in
social, environmental, and technological influences. However, teaching
millennial students also provides opportunities for educators to try new
teaching methods, have fun, and interact and collaborate with their learners in
interesting, dynamic ways.
