CHAPTER 1
PRELIMINARY

A. Background

Indonesia needs human resources in sufficient quantity and quality as the main support in
development. To fulfill these human resources, education has a very meaningful position. This
matter is in line with Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System in
Article 3, which states that national education plays a role in enhancing expertise and in shaping
the dignified character and civilization of the nation in order to educate the nation's life.

National education aims to develop the abilities of students so that they become human beings
who believe and obey God Almighty, have noble character, are healthy, knowledgeable,
competent, creative, independent, and become democratic and responsible citizens of the
country. Based on the aims and objectives of national education, it is clear that learning at each
level listed in schools must be organized systematically in order to achieve these goals. This
matter is of course related to the character building of students so that they are able to compete,
have ethics, have morals, courtesy and relate to citizens.

B. Problem Formulation
The author has compiled some of the issues that will be discussed in this paper. There are
also some problems that will be discussed in this paper, including:
1. What is the interpretation of character education?
2. What is the interpretation of the differences in personality and character?
3. What is an example of a character education program?

C. Purpose of the Problem

Sourced from the formulation of the problems compiled by the authors above, so that the
objectives in the preparation of this paper are as follows:
1. To recognize what character education is.
2. To recognize what differences in personality and character are.
3. To recognize examples of character education programs.

CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION

A. .Definition of Character Education

Character education is a system of instilling personality values to school students which includes
components of knowledge, understanding or desires, as well as actions to carry out these values,
both towards God Almighty (YME), yourself, others, areas, or nationality so that he becomes a
human being.

B. Character and Personality Differences

Personality is a gift from God the Creator when humans are born and every person who has a
personality certainly has weaknesses and strengths in the aspects of social life and each
individual. There are at least 4 factors that exist in a person's personality, namely Cholesterol,
Sanguinism,
Phlegmatic and Melancholy.
2.3 Examples of Character Education Programs

1. School Environment

With the character education program at school it will make students more educated. This
program equips and shares knowledge with teachers about student psychology, methods of
educating students by mastering mechanisms within students, as well as 3 key aspects for
producing successful students, and instant tips for mastering and overcoming students who have
“problems” with their behavior.

2. Family Environment

Get used to children socializing and relating to the close environment. Remember the options for
the environment really ensure the creation of a child's personality. A kind of saying goes that
friends with perfume sellers want to smell good, friends with fish sellers want to be fishy. Kind
of like that, a good and healthy environment wants to promote a healthy and good personality,
and vice versa. And what cannot be ignored is building a spiritual bond with God Almighty.
CHAPTER III
CLOSING

A. Conclusion

From the above review the writer can formulate the following:

The Indonesian nation has made efforts to improve the suitability and quality of character
education through schools, especially Early Middle Schools (SMP), because junior high school
age children are very suitable for being given education about character education. Teachers are
parents of students. Therefore, Rosulullah
forbids parents (teachers) to pray badly for their students. Praying for bad things to students is a
risky subject. Can cause bad things for students and their future. Character education aims to
improve the quality of implementation and learning outcomes in schools that lead to the
achievement of the personality and noble morals of students as a whole, integrated and balanced
