T211 – RC Slab
1. SCOPE Of WORK
This method statement is refer to the construction of tunnel RC floor slab of this project
2. RESOURCES
1) Concrete Vibrators
2) Air compressor
6) Air Breaker
2.2 Materials
1) Concrete by Main-con

3. WORK SEQUENCE
1) Provide necessary protection works for the existing works. (Canvas or other materials)
2) Use Air-compressor breakers to hack the existing RC slab up to 500mm thk, leave the
last 10mm thk RC slab. Use light breaker to hack till the Pre-cast segment.
1) The fabricated rebar shall be hoisted down to the loading bay in beneath and transfer
to the working area by manually or by trolley.
2) The fabricated rebar shall be installed according to the shop drawing and supported
by spacer block at bottom layer to maintain the required cover and fix with Grade 20
GI wire at a randomly alternate spacing.
4) Using Hilti HY 150 drill for Starter Bar from existing RC wall
5) The bottom bar will be installed by steel fixers followed construction drawing. Refer to
Picture A.
6) The top reinforcement bar will only be installed after completion of bottom bar.
9) Fix R6 bar shall be welded to top bar at c/c 1500mm, mark color tape the casting level
on the R6 bar to control the casting level.
11) Side formwork shall carry out according to the structural alignment provided by the
land surveyor after the rebar inspection.

1) Crec shall provide the level control at the scupper drain area and main-on for level
control wall area every 3m.
3) Fix R6 bar and R6 U bar to maintain the PVC Pipe elevation and alignment during
casting.
4) R6 bar with color tape shall be used to indicate the designated casting level where it
shall be welded to top layer of rebar.

3.4 Concreting
1) The engineer in- charge / supervisor must check and ensure that latest approved
shop drawings and are used for construction purpose.
2) The engineer/supervisor in-charge must also co-ordinate closely with the Project
coordination team to retrieve the latest information on the services penetration
and openings including all cast-in element or embedded items.
5) When all the above is done, the engineer/supervisor will proceed to order the
concrete and inform alt relevant parties of the estimate concrete arrival time.

T211 – RC Slab
6) CREC site supervisor will coordinate with the batching plant to ensure an optimal
number of concrete trucks on standby, to ensure smooth continuous pumping and
with minimal waiting time.
7) CREC site supervisor, on arrival of each truck, shall check the concrete delivery
order to ensure the correct grade and type of concrete is dispatched.
8) Upon confirmation, the site supervisor on ground level will inform the supervisor
and foreman at the casting area that the concrete had arrived and will start to
pump.
1) The casting shall start from one corner and moving forwards to the Construction Joint
direction, max. 20 meters length.
Construction Joint
HY-Rib Mesh
2) HY-Rib mesh will be proposed for CJ and for the rebar protruding area to prevent
concrete grout loss/leaking. All hy-rib material shall not left inside inside slab in
permanent stage.
3) The casting process for the slab basically operated with the help of concrete pump and
stationary pump to deliver concrete materials to the casting area though the
temporary structure opening.

T211 – RC Slab
4) If the stationary pump will not reach the casting area will use forklift and concrete
bucket to transfer the concrete material up to the casting area.
Casting Sequence
5) The concrete shall be deposited in horizontal layers not exceeding 300mm height or
any deeper than the length of the vibrator poker head.
6) The poker shall extend 100mm below the layer being compacted during placing of 2 nd
layers of concrete to knit the two layers together.

8) Foreman or supervisor shall randomly check on the fresh place concrete by using a
steel rod (soft or start harden) to avoid cold joint formation.
9) The concrete surface shall level by wooden or steel trowel to achieve a uniform
flat surface upon concrete reaches to the casting level.
10) Before curing, we use trowel to smooth the concrete surface by using aluminum
level bar to make sure the level of the concrete is correct to the design level.
