Trouble Shooting Techniques
 Temperature uniformity is Key. Always check with a
pyrometer
 Note cycles, cavity layout and settings prior to
trouble shooting
 Watch out for any unusual and erratic occurrences
 One change at a time
 Choose type of cycle and stick to process guidelines
 Use the trouble shooting guide
 Check all possible causes including material, tooling,
equipment and operator set up.

 Blistering,Heavy  Porosity
Section  Increase pressure
 Increase cure  Reduce Temp
 Slow close  Increase stop duration
 Increase stop duration  Increase charge weight
 Early degas  Introduce earlier breath
 Check Mold temp for
uniformity

Trouble Shooting Guide
 Mold Sticking  Warpage
 Raise Mold Temp  Uniform Mold Temp
 Use Stiffer Material
 Increase stop duration
 Increase Temp
 Clean Mold
 Preheat Longer
 Check Undercuts
 Make sure mold
 Check Mold Plating
closes properly
 Increase Cure  Cool uniformly

 Burned Marks  Heavy Flash
 Reduce Stop  Check material flow
 Reduce Mold Temp  Reduce Charge
 Minimize degas  Reduce Temp
 Dull Surface  Close on Low pressure
and go into high pressure
 Adjust Mod Temp sooner
 Extend stop  Check clearances

 Dimpled Surface  Orange Peal
 Slow close  Preheat with longer
 Lower temp stop
 Increase charge  Lower temp

 Close slowly on low

pressure. Delay two
seconds before high
pressure

Trouble Shooting Guide
 Contamination
 Follow House keeping rules  Check and eliminate press
 Keep press & powder box as source of
clean contamination
 Avoid cleaning with air blast  Cover powder container
 Avoid mixing different colors at all times
and types
 Check felt. Reverse or
change as required
 Make sure that feed-
board air blast is working
properly
