WHAT IS THE DISeASE/Disorder ?
● Disease that affect the heart muscle
● Makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body
● The heart becomes weaker and incapable of maintaining a normal rhythm.
● Leading to heart failure or irregular heartbeats called arrhythmias.
● The main types of cardiomyopathy include dilated, hypertrophic and restrictive
cardiomyopathy.
● Early on there may be few or no symptoms.
● Signs and symptoms usually appear, as the disease worsens.
○ Swelling of the legs, ankles and feet
○ Shortness of breath, particularly during exertion or exercise
○ Heartbeats that feel rapid, pounding or fluttering
○ Chest pain, discomfort or pressure
○ Dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue and fainting Cardiomyopathy

the left ventricle - the pumping ability of your heart's main pumping chamber / pump oxygenated blood from the lungs out to the body
HOW DOES it AFfECt THE BODY ?

● Heart failure: Your heart can pump enough

blood to maintain your body need
● Blood clots: Your heart improper function, so
blood clots might form in your heart, and
enter the bloodstream, which can block the
blood flow to other organs.
● Valve problems: Heart enlarged, so the
valve might not close properly, leading to a
reverse flow of blood
● Cardiac arrest and sudden death: Abnormal
heart rhythms result in fainting or in the
worse cases, sudden death if your heart
stop beating effectively
What are the cures ?
The goal of treatment is often symptom relief, prolong your life, and slowing
the decline of your heart’s condition

How to prevent !
In many cases, you can't prevent cardiomyopathy.
Reduce your chance of cardiomyopathy and other
types of heart disease by living a heart-healthy
lifestyle.
● Maintaining a healthy weight
● Avoiding the use of alcohol
● Eating a healthy diet
● Controlling high blood pressure,
high cholesterol and diabetes
● Getting enough sleep
● Getting regular exercise
● Reduced stress
● Quitting smoking
