Lesson
Summary:
So, since preschoolers don’t use tech a whole lot, I want to make this lesson plan simple yet effective. I
will be pulling out different pictures of animals, we will go over what they are and what noises they
make. I will then have them take out chrome books provided by the school and we will play a Kahoot
game reviewing what we learned.

Estimated This will probably take a total of about 40 minutes. Considering the time it takes to set up and then

time of completing the activities.

Preparation of What preparation is needed? Time, my room, tables, my materials.

materials and
environment
What materials will be used? My animal flashcards, chrome books.

How will the learning environment be set up? We can do animal flashcards on the circle time rug, and then we
will move to our tables to do our game on the computer.

Instructional Procedures:

1) We will all sit on the group time rug. We will sing a song about animals and then I will explain that we are
learning about animals and say that after we practice, we will all play a game about the animals.
2) We do the flashcards and learn. This will probably take about ten minutes or so.
3) We go to the tables and power up our chrome books
4) I explain to them how to join my kahoot and to use their first names only. I expect this and my third step to take
up about 15 minutes, due to how preschoolers aren’t tech buffs, but that’s why they’re learning!
5) We begin to play and retain information!

Day 1:
We will sing “Old McDonald Had a Farm” which should take about 4 minutes.
I will then explain we’ll do our flashcards and we do the flashcards, that should take about 10 minutes or more.
Next, we will move to the tables to turn on the computers and log into the game, I expect that to take about 15 min or
so.
Last, we will do the game! We’ll probably have about 15-20 minutes to do this.

Day 2:
If I feel they didn’t retain information about animals, we will do it again. And if they have retained information, I will
have them do colors or we will learn about what foods the animals eat and do another kahoot game of it.

This is a show on PBS that teaches about all different types of animals, if they want to go more into detail about animals
and learn more this is a great source.

Differentiated Instructional Support: Describe how instruction can be differentiated (changed or altered) to meet the
needs of gifted or accelerated students: For gifted students I can make an all-star game where the students who scored
the highest can compete and whoever wins gets a sticker of an animal or gets to be line leader.

Discuss additional activities you could do to meet the needs of students who might be struggling with the material: I
can go over things with them for 10 minutes of their lunch, I could connect the parents and recommend some sites to
help, I’ll also be sure that I am VERY clear with what I’m telling them and what information I am putting out.

Vocabulary: Kahoot. The website we will be using to test your knowledge about animals

For teachers Your computer, the flashcards, and a place to sit.

For students Chrome books, brains on.
