2 Critical Thinking Question:


Answer No. 1:
a. When I will write in this criterion, the writing should be formal and professional. There will be
multiple readers for this writing who are directly or indirectly connect to the company as well as
the industry. In this writing, I will use words, which are familiar to the business personnel. The
writing should be very organized and as short as possible.
b. In this situation, message would be delivered to the upward of the organization. This message
can be oral or written depending on company’s rules. In this message, I will ensure the necessity
of the particular computer hardware to the executives by using easy and simple words in a short
form that they can approve it.
c. This is a progress report, which should be submitted to the chief engineer. So, in this case I can
use some technical words which is understandable by an engineer. It is not necessary that the report
should be understandable by mass people. I have to write a brief explanation about the topic.
d. Multiple readers are here for the message. There can be different level of employees from
different sectors. So, I will use easy and most usable words to make them understand the message
clearly.
e. In this letter I have to deliver the message to the shareholders. Shareholders are not any kinds
of employee of the company. So, they will not understand the language used by the employee’s
dealings with this kind of financial terms. So, using of words should be very common and easy to
understand by all and sentences should be very simple in form.

A wrong philosophical approach generated by this comment. The people who deliver a message
have to consider readers understandability. If there is a scope to deliver the message in an easy
way so that readers can understand it, it will be a great job. It will prove his skill that he/she can
adapt with his/her readers. It’s a credit rather than coming down.
Answer No. 3: Using short words or brief words depends on the platform where the message will
be delivered. Most of the case, if the message is too long readers may be loose their concentration
and misunderstood the message. But if there is a way to use short words and make the message
meaningful, even it will be more professional than using brief words.
Answer No. 4: In a particular business or at a particular time period there are various slangs or
clinches that are very popular. Some business clinchers become popular at one point of time &
then go away .In addition the business clichés like cutting edge make the language more attractive

Answer No. 5: Every profession or business has its own vocabulary. There are various technical
words that are used to define a technical concept. Such words are generally used when people
communicate with their field. That is when two individuals are of the same profession or field they
use technical vocabulary orchard words.
A single word or acronym may easily describe a concept, which would otherwise take many words
& sentences. In addition, use of such words is seen as a sign of knowledge & specialization.
Answer No. 9: The statement “The procedure is different than the one we use” is might me hard
to catch to the reader. The word “procedure” might be hard to understand. If we use the similar
word of procedure, as an example “method” it might be easy to catch the word. As an example
“the method is different than the one we use”. It’s still hard to catch to the reader. If we write it
like that “the method is different than the one which we use”. In this sentence the meaning will be
same and also easy to understand.

can sap the energy from sentence. Using of active voice the sentence is look simple and everybody
can take it easily, because it is untestable to all. To make sentences more active by using what
grammarians refer to as active voice?
Answer No. 11: by discriminatory word, we mean that word that do not treat all people equally
with respect, which is not acceptable. More specifically they are words that refer negatively to
group of people, such as sex, race, nationality, sexual orientation, age, or disabilities. Such word
run contrary to acceptable view of fair play and human decency. They do not promote good
business ethics, and thus have no place in business communication.
