Message : The subject matter of communication is termed as messages. It includes
ideas, feelings, suggestions, order, etc., which a sender wants to convey to the

etc. Encoding translates the internal thought of the sender into a language which can
be understandable.
Channel : The path, channel or medium through which encoded message is
transmitted to the receiver is known as media. It is the carrier of the message. It can
be in written form, face to face, through telephone, letter, internet, etc.

2 . Speaking
Characteristics of effective speech
 Clarity : Clarity is an essential feature of a good speech. A speech should be clear and unambiguous so that the audience can understand it easily. If it is not clear enough to express its meaning to the audience, it will become
ineffective.

 Definiteness of Message :The message of the speech should be definite and relevant to the subject matter.

 Conciseness : The audience becomes impatient with a long speech. Hence, speech should be as concise as possible. However, it should not incomplete.

 Interesting : A speech should be delivered in an interesting and pleasing way so that the audience is motivated to pay attention. In order to make the speech interesting, various stories, examples, quotations, and jokes can be
cited.

 Use of Body Language : Good Speech goes with necessary body language. Therefore, at the time of delivering a speech, the speaker should use various nonverbal cues.

Guidelines for planning a meeting

1. Define results first : What are the results your group needs to achieve
by the end of the meeting? Write them down. If there is not a defined
purpose, consider whether there really is a reason to meet.
2. Identify the meetings time frame : What kind of meeting time is
needed for the meeting's purpose? Different time frames fit different
purposes — from the five-minute daily check-in to the two-day retreat.
3. List the meeting's topics : Identify the topics that need to be covered
to accomplish the results. Think through what has to be done, consider a
logical order for discussing the topics or making decisions. Consider the
information that the group needs in order to discuss a topic or make a
decision knowledgeably. A good agenda considers the following:
 What topics do we have to cover to accomplish our goal?
 What outcome/s do we want for each topic?
 What information do we need?
 Who will make the decision/s?
4 . Allot time frames by topic : Considering the total time available, assign realistic
time slots for each item. During the meeting, if the group hasn't reached a decision
within the time provided, suggest next steps or refer the item to the next meeting or
committee.
5.Plan participation strategies to address each topic : Different methods of
discussion can be used to make the best use of the group for each topic. Be clear
about expectations for involving participants to assure that involvement builds trust
and gets authentic action.
6 . Do a sanity check : After you review your agenda, consider whether what you want
to do is really "doable" in the amount of time you've got. If not, scale back
expectations or schedule another meeting to address some of the topics.
4 . Presentation skills

Principles of effective presentation

1. Know who your audience will be : If you have the time to do one thing,
then devote all of it to knowing your audience. Your presentation is for your
audience, they are the ones that have to benefit from it.
Put yourself in the shoes of your audience, try to imagine what would they
want to get from your presentation. Try also to imagine how your audience
relates to your topic and to you, think about the ways you can simplify the
relationship between them and your material.
2. Tell your audience who you are : Make sure that
everyone in the room has understood your name but that
they are also able to describe who you are
3. Tell your audience why you are there.
Within the first 2 minutes of your presentation explain your motivation for presenting. Let your
unique knowledge and perspective show, help your audience understand how passionate you are
about what you are going to talk about, how important to you what you are going to do and say is.
4.Tell your audience why they are there.
Within the first 5 minutes of your presentation provide your
audience with a sample of the advantage they will get by
following your presentation. Show them what they will gain
from your presentation and, more importantly, how it will
change them.
5. Interwiews
Essentials of placement interviews
1.Research, Research, And Research
Gather as much information as possible about the company of
your choice. Browse the Internet, acquaint yourself with its
mission, vision, and the way it hires staff. Try to read customer
reviews. This will give you an idea about its position in the
market.
2 . Prepare A Strong Resume
Campus placements relieve you from the stress of
filling up lengthy applications. All you need is a well-
worded resume. It should be brief and clear. Use the
words given in the company’s job description. And
do not forget to highlight your skills.
3. Give Utmost Attention To Your Company’s
Presentation About Itself
When a firm visits your campus for placement, it
will give a presentation about itself. Stay attentive to
it. The interviewer may ask you questions based on
it. You also have to learn as much as possible about
the organization.
4.Attend Mock Interviews
If your choice falls on the best university in Guntur, it
will conduct mock interviews. This is done so as to
prepare you for the real interview. Participate in as
many as possible. If the university or college fails here,
you can take the initiative.
5.Include A Cover Letter
A cover letter attached to your resume declares that you
take the offer seriously. It should contain the following
information:
 Why you applied for the job
 The reasons why you are the right candidate for the
job
 What you know about the company in question
Try to find out more about the person interviewing you.
Doing this helps you customize your cover letter in such a
way to attract his attention.
