Spring 2021
As a result of the Health Science Program Learning Outcomes I was able to demonstrate
an understanding of health care information systems that affect service delivery with agencies
and in the public. This is so as in my Health 302 Introduction to Health Care Informatics class, I
acquired this ability to understand how health care can be reached in different ways and you
yourself can track your own health. My artifact is a presentation on a health application that can
be easily accessible through your phone which helps you track your sleep patterns and can help
make positive changes to your life, which has fulfilled this learning outcome. In this case this
presentation goes in depth about how making small changes such as getting an extra hour of
sleep can change your entire health situation. In my case I noticed that getting a full 8hours of
sleep helped me not get headaches which I am prone too but getting more than 8 hours of sleep
also triggered them. Before I started the Health Science major my knowledge of this pathway
was limited but I did know that there are different ways for the public to get a grasp of their own
healthcare information which they can track on their own. My knowledge has since changed
when I first started the Health science major and continues to grow as I look more into new
research and artifacts. By now having this knowledge it has helped me gain the knowledge of
using different health applications to flourish my own health if I decide to. By doing this it
allows me to not only not have to leave the comfort of my home if I have other responsibilities
such as taking care of a family member but I myself can learn more about myself and understand
my own health to a depth by using health applications. Once taking this health care informatics
class it has opened my eyes to how people can handle their own health situations for the better
through outside sources such as applications. There are still some issues with health care systems
delivering these applications in agencies and even the public as not everyone has access to reach
these applications due to most of them needing one to have an electronic device. Although this is
a problem that is caused to other things such as low income it can be solved with health care
My academic ability has outstandingly developed over the time in this program while
taking all of this majors’ courses. This is so as this artifact has given me the knowledge and
understanding that one can change their health by simply making little changes to their lifestyle
routine. In my case the sleep cycle application I used allowed me to get more in touch with my
own body and see what made me feel better or worse. This artifact has also taught me to be
patient to see results as you won’t see them for a while unless you stick to doing the same things
over and over. Not only is there sleeping applications that monitor your sleep but there are
several other applications that can monitor your health situation such as a period cycle app or
even one that tracks your heart rhythms. Through this process of firsthand using a health
application it has taught me that it is critical to be patient and understand how health care
applications are there to help one manage their own health if they wish to. Patience is important
to have and necessary when understanding why something is happening to then know how to
more about creating these applications which can further health more people to live a healthy
lifestyle. Making applications for others to use regarding the health field would at least also need
a bachelor’s degree in computer science. If I wanted to further my education in both these fields I
would do so to help as many people who have accessibility to electronics to use these apps.
Promotion of these applications can also help urge those in communities to use these apps as
well so learning how to communicate and entice others is also important. Knowing how to
communicate with the public is important as well as giving them factual information to gain their
trust in using the app being promoted to help them physically and mentally.
understanding of health care information systems that affect service delivery with agencies and
in the public was fulfilled for me. This program has not only taught me to be able to do this but
make allow me to learn deeper into what it takes to make an application that truly works for the
public to use. Although creating applications in the health field for the public to use is still new
to us, so far, we know that they work and are impactful. These applications have helped many
people this far to manage their weight, sleep cycles, menstrual cycles, and even their food intake.
In the close future we can possibly decrease the number of several other diseases or illnesses by
creating informative and interactive applications that will put an end to them
