About the
Technology
Vision

In 2014 Accenture released its

first ever Technology Vision for Oracle.

a Digital Business:
The Evolution

In 2013, we presented the idea that Every

Business is a Digital Business – whether
they knew it or not.

This theme is still relevant, however there

is one important evolution from last year:
Large companies are moving from being
digitally disrupted to becoming digital
disrupters.

Accenture and Oracle see eye to eye on

how to help accelerate the digital
directions of the biggest companies. What
really matters is that we share a vision of a
digital future that is broader still than that
glimpsed by the new breed of corporate
digerati.
Big is the Next Big Thing
This year’s Vision identifies six technology trends
that are enabling large enterprises to move from
disrupted to market disrupters, in pushing the
boundaries of innovation and taking advantage of
digital technologies for competitive advantage.

Backed by their deep resources, enormous scale,

and process discipline, these new digerati are
about to rewrite much of the digital playbook.

We apply the lens of Accenture’s and Oracle’s

blended expertise to demonstrate how our
combined approach maps to the six technology
vectors described in the report—from its spotlight
on the digital-physical blur to the push for
architected resilience.

Digital-Physical
Blur:
Extending intelligence
at the Edge
Wearable devices, smart objects
and machines are providing us
with real-time intelligence that is
changing how we live and how
business operate.

Digital-Physical
Blur:
Extending intelligence
at the Edge
Accenture and Oracle are well placed to help
businesses take advantage of this digital-physical
blur. At a minimum, Oracle’s integrated and
engineered solutions help simplify the architecture
and infrastructure of business analytics, allowing
data and insights to flow to users, partners, and
consumers as simply as possible.

From Workforce
to Crowdsource:
Rise of the borderless
enterprise
Using advanced digital tools and platforms,
organizations can now tap into pools of people across
the world, giving them access to an immense, agile
workforce…one not just better suited to solving
problems, but also one that may do so for free.

From Workforce
to Crowdsource:
Rise of the borderless
enterprise
Oracle provides solutions that enable companies to
perform granular segmentations and apply them across
interactions with customers. Accenture and Oracle also
have the resources and tools necessary to deal with the
new levels of complexity and risk generated by the
widening workforce.
#techvision2014

Data Supply
Chain:
Putting information
into circulation
Data needs to be something that
is transported through a supply
chain, is shared, used and
repurposed – just like other
products.
#techvision2014

Data Supply
Chain:
Putting information
into circulation
Accenture works closely with
Oracle and its clients to design,
build, and run the underpinning
information strategy, architecture,
and governance that enable a
“single source of the truth” for all
data, wherever it resides.
#techvision2014

Harnessing
Hyperscale:
Hardware is back
(and it never really
went away)
Eclipsed by over a decade of innovation
in software, the hardware world is now a
hotbed of innovation with demand
soaring for unprecedented levels of
performance in storage, processors and
specialized servers.
#techvision2014

Harnessing
Hyperscale:
Hardware is back
(and it never really
went away)
It is Oracle’s and Accenture’s belief that
the next wave of data center computing
will be characterized by purpose-built
machines that optimize for particular
types of workload and tackle traditional
bottlenecks in system performance.

Business of
Applications:
Software as a core
competency in the
digital world
Take data from being siloed and
unmanaged to an integrated resource,
managed end-to-end through a data
supply chain...while taking analytics
from an art to an industrialized, fully
embedded capability.
#techvision2014

Business of
Applications:
Software as a core
competency in the
digital world
Accenture and Oracle are geared to
help enterprises move toward this new
realm of enterprise applications.
Oracle’s solutions allow IT systems to
grow and evolve to fit the market’s
changing requirements.
#techvision2014

Architecting
Resilience:
“Built to survive failure” -
the mantra of the nonstop
business
CIOs who truly understand the concept of
resiliency are transitioning their organizations
to an always-on state, phasing in resilience
initiatives as business risk and process
economics dictate.
#techvision2014

Architecting
Resilience:
“Built to survive failure” -
the mantra of the nonstop
business
Oracle and Accenture understand that resiliency is
the new high ground for CIOs who take their
strategic business roles seriously. Transforming to a
digital business implicitly increases a company’s
exposure to risk through IT failures. Accenture
implements Oracle solutions that are key enablers
of architected resilience.
