San Francisco residents and employees of the City and County of San Francisco (who use
their sfgov.org email account) will receive their library account information by email within
48 hours. The account information will allow you to borrow electronic and physical
materials, request materials and use library databases. You will not receive a physical
library card at this time; we will contact you once we are able to provide you with a physical
card.

If you are not a San Francisco resident or employee, you will need to wait to get a library
card until library buildings are open to the public. At this time, we do not know when the
coronavirus public health guidelines will allow the library to open its buildings.
