FRP Coating (Lining) Procedure

1. Safety:

 The tank to be lined should be thoroughly emptied and clean.

 Vapor in the tank should be purged to reduce explosion and inhalation hazards.

2. Surface preparation:
-concrete:

 Holes in the floor greater than an inch diameter are repaired & patched by putty.

-Metal:

 The surface must be free of scale, oil and grease. Sand blast to near white color.

3. Prime the clean surface:

 The metal and concrete surface is protected by brushing on a resin coat, to increase bonding
strength between FRP to metal and concrete.

4. Apply the laminate:

 All areas to be lined with Glass Mat and polyester or vinyl ester resin as specified.
 The standard of glass is E-glass that would be reinforcement layer.
 The resin and glass are to be worked down with special grooved rollers and brushes,
In order to minimize the surface free of pin holes and air pockets.

5. Apply the Corrosion barrier:

 After apply the laminate as reinforcement layers, E-glass surface mat as the corrosion barrier
should be applied with polyester or vinyl ester resin as specified.

6. Finish coating:

 Polyester and vinyl ester finishing coating would be brushed on the surface,
 Mix the resin with silicon silica powder, wax additive and pigment color past as specified.
