Social Etiquette and Rules in Saudi Arabia

 In KSA Alcohol is completely banned.

 In public, women should wear an Abaya, but headscarves are no longer compulsory.

 You should refrain from holding hands of affection and public displays. In the UAE and

the GCC, this is also applicable.

 Gambling in both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates is

prohibited.
 Look out for the cafes and restaurants' family sections; do not go in if you are a male who

is single.

 Some beaches in Jeddah are only for expatriates and you can suits swimwear and shorts.

This isn't the case everywhere on public beaches.

 Shake the hand of Muslim woman only if given by her, otherwise give a quick hello or

place your hand over your heart.

 Using just the right hand to shake hands or hand it over. Using your left hand in Islam is

deemed disrespectful.

 Respecting faith. During prayer hours, stores, bars, etc. can close for a little time.

 On Fridays, the holiest day, stores and several services are closed. Sunday-Thursday is

the regular week.

 Ramadan is the Holy Month where, during daylight hours, Muslims fast.

 During this time, except in your auto, do not have any water or food available in public or

you face fines.
