Easy directions for recording remotely:

1) Use two devices if possible. One to play click track with headphones or earbuds and one to record your
video.
2) Test the sound on your device. Make sure any and all features are configured for optimal recording. If
you are using your phone be sure to set it to Silent or “Airplane Mode” so notifications are off.
3) If you need to slice your video together, that’s fine. Be sure to line the breaks up with the click track or
metronome.
4) Submit your final product through the google form link provided.

Musicianship on a recording:
It can be difficult to capture a great recording without our friends and colleagues. That being said, here are
some tips.
1) If it doesn’t sound good to you, it probably won’t sound good on the recording. We can fix a few things
with the editing software, but the better raw product, the better the finished product
2) Practice a few times with the click track. It makes a difference.
3) Do your best to play in tune. Here is a great free online chromatic tuner:

4) Count your rhythms carefully and play them confidently against the click.
5) Clean articulations are a must.
6) Good sound, not loud sound, is what matters most. This is especially important for brass. Try pointing
your bell away from the recording device so that it doesn’t get distorted.
7) Start early with your practicing and work for a clean take.
8) Submit your best quality work. Keep your takes as much as you can.
9) Plan ahead and don’t wait until the last minute to finish your recording. There is no greater force to
work against you for recording errors than an imposing deadline.

Thank you all for your participation and making the best of these circumstances. As always contact me with
any questions or concerns you may have. Director@adriancityband.org
