III-English

Task 1.
1. Identify problem/s education causing the low performance of students
in English.
 Inadequate resources or learning materials
 Poor Writing Skills

2. Give solution/ solutions to remedy the problem.

 Teachers should manifest the delivery of learning and training through
digital resources. They should practice the use of modern techniques
as a substitute for traditional resources, graphic organizers, and
teacher-made resources.
 The remediation lies to the teacher and the student itself. As learners,
students play a crucial and active role in education. They involve and
interact with students and teachers, participate in classroom
discussion, and act in a receptive manner. Thus, it is a duty and
responsibility of a student to become self-motivated, enhance reading,
and practice the structural components of English. Teachers, for
instance, should expose learners to gradually challenging tasks and
material. Teachers and school administrators need to collaborate in
motivating students to improve their writing skills and should
encourage the parents to take more active control in the learning
process.

3. Make a project proposal on the identified problem and possible

solutions in making the project proposal consider the ff. variables
A. Project Title:
Power Of Pen (POP!)

B. Rationale

English consists of four skills including listening, reading, speaking,

and writing. The mastery of these skills is a gradual process hence, in
order for the learners to develop these skills, the components of the
English language such as vocabulary, pronunciation, and structural
components of English must be introduced to students.
Among the four basic skills in English, writing has been regarded as
the least proficient skills because most students find difficulty in observing
grammar structures. In the global context, English writing had become an
issue for students who speak English as a second language. The purpose
of this program is to render a helping hand for those students who lack or
having difficulties in writing as part of their academic fulfillment. This
program will also develop their writing proficiency and competence
because it has significance not just in improving a communicative
competence of learning the language and also for lifetime success. More
so, I believe that before enhancing the skills in speaking or addressing
and focusing on the problems in speaking, the first phase of the
developing of the skills must start with writing as perhaps the most
complex skill to develop since it requires the mastery of language.
This program will start on February 6, 2021, from 1 to 3 in the
afternoon and is intended for the Senior High School students of Morong
National High School.

C. Objectives

 Develop the writing skills of the Senior High School Students

 Showcase writing skills
 Enhance Self-Esteem
 Develop Potential Writers
 Assist students who are having difficulty in composing and/ or
sentence formation
D. Discussion
a. Role of students in solving the problem

The role of the students is to do his/her own part in the learning process.
Nobody will spoonfeed your way of success thus, students should work
with the best to know how good they are.
Read. Reading exposes us to other styles, other voices, and genres of
writing. Importantly, it exposes us to writing that’s better than our own and
helps us to improve.
Self-motivated. It’s an integral part of achieving goals, feeling fulfilled,
moving up the career ladder, and experiencing greater personal
satisfaction.
Remove anxiety. Students must learn to accept criticism, embrace the
fear of writing, set goals, and move towards them to overcome fear and
pressure in writing.
Practice. To become a better writer, students must address their difficulty
with grammar structures and a shortage of vocabulary. Practicing as well
as approaching necessary materials for grammar skills is mandatory.

b. Role of teachers in solving the problem

Teachers being the facilitator of learning can improve students’ writing

ability by fostering their interest, motivation, and enjoyment for writing.
Teachers should develop a writing culture and provide opportunities for
writing practices. It will be necessary if teachers integrate writing daily,
making it a “routine” in the teaching process. In addition, teachers should
change the examination system producing a subjective type of test rather
than an objective. In this light, plagiarism and memorization would not be
promoted.
Teachers have trained not only effective teaching practices but also in
providing positive and constructive feedback. If educators acknowledge,
appreciate, and motivate their efforts, students will be motivated to learn
and eventually, boost their self-esteem.
