word speech is defined not only as speaking
in front of a group of people but it is also the
ability to speak and a spoken language. In
short, speaking. And when we say speaking, Yes Ma'am!

which characterized by the degree of

Two (2) defining features of
Consultative Style:
1. The speaker supplies background
information
2. The listener participates continuously.

Examples: Asking a saleslady the price, a

student talking to his teacher, asking for
directions.
 Casual or Informal Style
o The style is used in conversations
between friends and insiders who have
something to share and have shared
background information, often very
relaxed and focused on just getting
information out.
o Slangs and unconventional languages are
quite often used in these instances and is
used in informal situations. Shortened
phrases or words are sometimes used.
Examples: conversations with your
friends, simple greetings, etc.

 Intimate Style
o This style is used in conversations
between people who are very close and
know each other quite well because of
having a maximum of shared background
information.
o It is characterized by an economy of
words, with a high incidence of significant
non-verbal communication, such as
gesture, facial expression, eye contact, and
so on.
o Certain terms of endearments, slangs or
expressions whose meaning is shared with
