Step 1: Why do farmers not get fair and remunerative prices?

Step 2: Sub problems

● Middlemen trading
● Uncertain weather conditions
● Supply chain Disruptions
● Market fluctuation
● Government Policies
● Stockholding Limits
● Quality Inputs
● Post harvest infrastructure
● Fluctuations in demand and supply

Step 3: Quality Inputs, Market fluctuation, Post harvest infrastructure

Step 4: Can we increase profits of farmers mainly by focusing on dependent variables which
include lack of post-harvest activities like storage, packaging and transportation which leads to
huge losses of produce resulting in low prices of the commodity?
Do these internal factors lead to an increase in farmer’s income or not?

Step 5: To find out the probable solutions for getting high income to the farmers
All farmers (small, marginal and large), retailers, middlemen, will be constituted in our study.

Solutions for loss of farmers yield

Solution for removing the middleman

1.We are selecting a conclusive design for formulating the research problem. The research can
be descriptive and causal both.

2. Descriptive design is used here because on the basis of the available data, we are analysing
it and come to the most probable solution that increases the income of the farmers.
3. The Conclusive design will provide a more quantitative data and accurate result. This
approach will help in identifying the parameters quantitatively. Conclusive approach will be
helpful in formulating a structured solution to the problem. Collecting data with the perspective
of cause and effect model.

4. Limitations of this design:

1) Production of the homogenous product among all farmers in the specific area.
2) Farmers have no market power to demand price for their produce.
3) It cannot establish a causal research relationship between variables.

Step 6 Yes, we will identify each respondent.

Step 7 Yes, we plan to select a sample because we are going to analyse where the money is
cut out that is not able to reach the farmers.

Step 8
8(a). We have to prepare a questionnaire and accordingly the survey is conducted by using a
door-to-door survey.

8(b) Strength: By collecting data by personal survey methods, accuracy on the data will be
achieved and there will be less chances of errors.
Weakness: More time consuming and involves more cost.

8(c). Interviews will be conducted to their respective places where respondents are available. To
fetch specific information from respondents and analyse the problem and formulate a solution.

8(d). Initially we will initiate the survey by first contacting the head of the village (sarpanch), then
introducing the motto of our survey followed by taking that head as a helping hand for taking the
survey of the people of that respective village

8(e). Our sample population has limited access to the network. Providing personal contact to the
head of the village can be an approach for solving their queries.
