Nagoro, a tiny village located over five hundred
kilometres away from Tokyo, is notable for its
unique in habitat. Instead of humans, the land is
occupied mostly by dolls. People even call it ‘The
doll valley’ because there are more dolls than
humans living in that village.
It was all started by Tsukimi Ayano, a local
resident who began to create human-like dolls and
place them randomly in the village. Ayano had a
vision to turn her village into a lively place again
after her fellow villagers gradually left. She thought
that the dolls would help her and the remaining
