1. Refined Synopsis: Explaining the problem / ‘Working title’ of thesis /Area of study/ Relevance/ Significance/Intent /
aim/ objectives/ scope/ focus/ limitation of the thesis.

2. Background Literature and Case Studies: Explaining the problem statement and the reasons that made you to take
up the topic. Why this topic has to be studied, what is the intent and significance of the topic chosen for study, and the
relevance and the need?

Expected outcome: Initial Literature review/case studies – Explaining the conceptual and theoretical understanding of the
chosen thesis topics /critically understanding of the design or aspects of design/design process/ data and tool required for
study/ presentation of similar desktop case studies and their relevance to the thesis undertaken. Justification for identified
case studies/ relevance must be established. Appropriate methodology adopted for analysis case studies to be presented/
Data collected and techniques to be used for data collection/ Measurements to taken/ observations made/ survey format if
any etc.

Introduction to case studies to be carried out, justification for the identified case studies, what data you will collect from
case studies, how you will collect etc to be discussed with guide. Those who are working on urban level issue must present
how the study is to be conducted or were conducted.

This is the most important sheet that will set the tone for your thesis.

3. Introduction to Site & Site Inventory Analysis: Identification of site of appropriate scale for design/Justification for
the identified site/ Contextual analysis/ Location/ Feasibility/ Access to site and surrounding areas/ Scale of the project/
Land-use/ Typology/ Justification for the site identified/ Site Inventory Analysis/ Site Features –natural or artificial/
Constrains/ Topography/ Photographic analysis/ Volumetric study etc.

Expected outcome: Introduction to study area where you will explore and demonstrate your findings, location, land use,
accessibility, scale of the project etc. Justification for the study area identified.

Guidelines for preparation of sheets and report: # Presentation Sheets: A1 Size:
[1]. Use either landscape or portrait format for presentation - Do not use combination of both.
[2]. Presentation sheets must be properly formatted. Formatting must include – Title of thesis, name, registration no.
semester details and sheet numbering, School logo. Scale and north point must be depicted wherever required.
[3]. Check for the legibly of Texts/images/graphs/Tables in the presentation. Due credits for source of information
must be given wherever required.
[4]. For references and citation – use APA style consistently.
