Introduction
Due to a recent crisis in the Gulf region, coupled with an internal financial crisis,
two low cost domestic airline companies have decided to merge. The objective is
to counter the global problem and provide synergy in operation work. You are a
consultant to the lead architect who is responsible for the merger. Together, both
domestic airlines currently serve 65 destinations in the domestic market.
The airlines have received approval for the merger from the regulatory authority.
The merger will increase the occupancy rate for the common destinations. To
facilitate the new merger, an enterprise architecture program has been initiated
using TOGAF 9 as the method and guiding framework.
Challenges
The CIO is the sponsor of the activity. The chief architect has indicated that this
program should make use of iteration with the ADM.
As the program moves into phase A within the initial iteration of the architecture
capability cycle, the CIO has emphasized the need to ensure that all stakeholders
from both organizations are engaged. How can you identify and engage the
stakeholders at this stage of the program?

understanding of the most important stakeholders and record this analysis in a
matrix for reference during the project. It may be necessary to refresh the
analysis periodically. This enables the team to easily see which stakeholders are
expected to be blockers or critics, and which stakeholders are likely to be
advocates and supporters of the initiative. You should work out stakeholder
power, influence, and interest, so as to focus the enterprise architecture
engagement on the key individuals. These can be mapped onto a power versus
interest matrix, which also indicates the strategy to adopt for engaging with them.
Finally, you need to develop a stakeholder map and identify and engage the key
stakeholders in phase A. A stakeholder map can be used to record the findings of
stakeholder management.
