Introduction

Integrated Arts Production

Production' is a word with many meanings. It can refer to the making of something, or to a final
product, like a theatrical performance. It can be the process of bringing a song or musical work to
life. Or honing that work to perfection. And it can be as simple as making a clay pot with your hands.

Production is the heart of making art. Artists and theorists have long acknowledged its importance
as both an artistic action and an idea to be explored. And as the role of production has shifted in our
lives, so have the ways in which artists have responded to it.

Today we are talking about Art Production what does that even mean? think about all the things that

LESSON PROPER

There are many different things to consider in putting up an art production. This
may vary according to the resources, type, and other things. In general, here are
the Four Methods (4Ms) to consider:
METHOD

Methods will determine the standard procedure of a production. This is the step by step procedure
of the production. This provides the structure or framework which will be its foundation. We also
call it the production plan. The method shall contain the following.
● Objectives or goals – it is the end result or the outcomes of the production ( specifies what
immediate results are expected from actions)

● Materials -the main concept and/or storyline (it tackles about the theme and how the story will
flow)

● Procedures -the activities that need to be done (for example contracts, advertising, promotion or
the works to be done to achieve the goal)

● Manpower assignment -the person assigned for a particular activity (examples are the manager)
people who are involve in the art production specifically their roles and function,

● Target date of finish -the activity’s date of finish

The importance of the methods is actually being definite to time and arrangements and fhe actual
flow of the production.

Materials

This refers to the artwork to be produced and presented to the audience such as the script,
playwright, music, and choreography. A material must have a concept. A concept is the main idea,
message, context, or story that needs to be conveyed.

Examples: show pictures of script, music , playwright and choreography and concept (tv show,
film, art exhibit, museum, music.

Machine

These are the materials, machines, or equipment to be used in the production. These may refer to the
physical materials in a production design such as the stage, lighting, sound systems, or any
technological medium.

Example: Pictures of Concert, theatre, film, art exhibit, tv show

Manpower

Manpower refers to the production team. Each will be assigned to specific activities in the plan.

● Concept writers -create and write the storyline and/or script

*While the dialogue in a film may seem natural to the viewer, a writer carefully crafts it; however, the
screenwriter does far more than provide dialogue for the actors. He or she also shapes the sequence of
events in a film to ensure that one scene transitions to the next so that the story will unfold logically
and in an interesting way.

Examples: well-known script writer in the Philippine

● Researchers -research to ensure a properly contextualized and well-informed production

* Do extensive reading and research for the information to be presented that is true, correct and non-
bias.

Examples, Pictures of people who are researching

● Director -the head of the production; the one whose vision manifests the most in the production

*The director is primarily responsible for overseeing the shooting and assembly of a film. While the
director might be compared to a novel's author as a film's primary visionary, he or she would not be
able to make the film without the help of numerous other artists and technicians.

Examples: Well-known Director in the Philippine Movie

● Producers -produce machineries and manages the manpower.

* The producer develops the project from the initial idea, makes sure the script is finalized, arranges
the financing and manages the production team that makes the film. This person is essentially the
group leader and is responsible for managing the production from start to finish.

Examples: Pictures of Producers in Philippine movie industry

● Choreographers -produce the act and the motions in the storyline to be executed by the artists

* This skills are being enhance through intensive practice of body movements and routines.

Example: Pictures of dance practice, short clip of dance, ballet, singers,

● Performing artists -lead the roles in the storyline

* Responsible for portraying the characters in a film, actors work closely with the director and
cinematographer. Considering an actor's role within this larger context also suggests that his or her
job is much more difficult than just appearing on the set and reciting lines.

Example: well-known artist in the Philippines who are internationally awarded because of their
performance

● Crew -the associates in the production

*Crew members look after the setting up, dismantling, removal and maintenance of music and theatre
production equipment for stage performances. They also transport and maintain equipment between
shows.

Examples: Extra, all the staff
