Activity 5 - Inductive and Deductive Reasoning

A. Find the perimeter of each figure. Describe the pattern of the perimeters.

The formula to get the perimeter is to add all of its sides. We can use this formula in order to get
the perimeter of the given figures. Since every figure is added 4 units, then we can simply
multiply the figures by 4 to get its perimeter, thus P=4n.

Figure 1 = 1 x 4 = 4 units
Figure 2 = 2 x 4 = 8 units
Figure 3 = 3 x 4 = 12 units
Figure 4 = 4 x 4 = 16 units
Figure 5 = 5 x 4 = 20 units

B. Predict the perimeter of the 20th figure.

Using the derived formula, we can come up with solution wherein:

Figure 20 = 20 x 4
= 80 units.

Thus, the perimeter of the 20 th figure is composed of 80 units.

As what have shown on the table, we can observe that the weight of the male tigers are
greater or than the weight of the female tigers. By this, we can say that in every species of
tigers, the weight of the male are greater or doubled than the weight of female tigers. Therefore
male tigers are heavier than female tigers.
