Parallelogram
Holt Geometry
Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students should
be able to:
a. Use properties to find measures of angles,
sides and other quantities involving
parallelograms
b. Find and show the solution of the measure
of sides and angles of a parallelogram,
c. Exhibit participation.
Let us Recall!
Conditions that guarantee a
quadrilateral a parallelogram:
1. Opposite sides of a parallelogram are congruent
and parallel
2. Opposite angles of a parallelogram are congruent
3. Consecutive angles of a parallelogram are
supplementary
4. The diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other
5. Either diagonal of a parallelogram forms two
congruent triangles
Let us Check your
Preparation.
Directions: Identify the condition guarantee that
MATH is a parallelogram.
TRY THIS!!!
Today is Bien’s 18th birthday party. There is a small celebration in their
humble home. In the middle of the party, someone handed her a
piece of paper. To her surprise, it is a letter from her Lolo Toni, and the
letter says…
To my ever-beautiful Bien,
Solution:
Step 1. Draw the parallelogram and label the sides with
the given measures
Example:
Given is parallelogram HOPE. Find the value of y and
lengths of the given sides.
5y-20=3y+10
5y-3y=10+20
2y=30
y=15
