Instruction: Read the questions very carefully and answer the following problems. Write your solution on
a different paper and highlight your final answer. Each question worth 5 points. D
 O NOT CHEAT.

1. The wall is 2.2 m high and consists of 51 mm x 102 mm studs plastered on one side. On the other
side is 13 mm fiberboard, and 102 mm clay brick. Determine the average load in kN/m of length of
wall that the wall exerts on the floor.

2. The office building has interior columns spaced 5.5m apart in perpendicular directions. Determine
the reduced live load supported by a typical interior column located on the first floor under the
offices.

3. A circular tapered beam has 1m and 0.5m diameter on different sides and has a length of 3m.
Draw the free-body diagram of the self-weight of the beam. Assume the specific weight of
concrete to be 24kN/m3.

4. A cylindrical water tank has a diameter of 3m and has a height of 3m. The tank was supported as
shown. If the tank was filled with water, determine the weights that each of the 4 legs carry.
Neglect the weight of the tank.
