PAUBAYA
By: Moira Dela Torre

pagmamahal
Pinapaubaya ko na sa Kanya
Lahat ay binigay nang mapangiti ka lang
Ba't 'di ko nakita na ayaw mo na
Ako ang kasama, pero hanap mo siya
At kung masaya ka sa piling niya
Hindi ko na pipilit pa
Ang tanging hiling ko lang sakanya
'Wag kang paluhain
At alagaan ka niya
Saan natigil ang pagiging totoo
Sa tuwing mababanggit na mahal mo
ako
NTERPRETATION:

The song “Paubaya” interpreted love in a form of freeing someone who became
one’s world or part of one’s life. I chose this song because aside from it being stuck in
my head, it gave me comfort and the courage to let go. In the painting, there’s a lady
who’s about to let go of the balloon – which represents the people that were once part
of our lives allowing them to go wherever life can take them, as planned. There are
times that even if we want that balloon, sometimes we just have to allow it to flow in the
air and look at it from afar until it goes unseen. Another symbolism of freedom for me
are the doves which go to places where they can satisfy themselves. Just like in the
song, people will go to whoever they love because they want to feel love, yet there are
times people stay because they “need” to. Furthermore, as seen in the painting, there is
a dandelion being blown out by the wind. Kids use dandelions when they make wishes,
and in relation to the song, the person wishes for their happiness, which shows the love
he/she has for the other person, wishing for the him/her to be happy even if with
someone else. Lastly, the sunset represents the ending, ending of the chapter with that
person. This symbolizes beautiful ending, and a promise of a new day or a new chapter
ahead, this time prioritizing oneself.
