According to Yoko Ono “Art is a way of survival”, and I must say that I truly agree with this

because it saved me. I grew up knowing that arts are only about colors, design and manipulation of line to
create a shape or a picture, but then as time passes by, I realized that art is more than that. In my own
perception I could say that Art is an expression and feeling of oneself that are left unsaid by the artist who
made such masterpiece. One of my coping mechanisms when things in my head gets messy is to draw or
paint, because it gives me the freedom whenever each stroke of a pen or a brush has been laid off in a
paper or canvas. I view art not only as a medium but as a comfort zone that I will always get back to, it is
something that I love even though I’m not really good at it. I view it like a sunset that gives me comfort
even knowing that after that darkness will start to welcome us.
After reading the module 1, I view art as broader and more complex term that I couldn’t see how
vast it is in the horizon. Art is not just about expressing and a safe haven to many, but it is also a form of
imitation and presentation, a perception of how someone view things differently, their definition of
aesthetic and many more. It acts an imitation of how life work is in the past, the theatre, movies about the
heroes in the past, helps us see on how they defend our mother land with all their might. It is a perception
of how someone view things are. Every person has its own perspective on viewing things. Like me I view
life like the green fields with blooming flowers, the sea with its golden hour the sunset and the peace and
comforts that the night sky gives. I usually drew those scenery sending a message to every viewer that,
that is life for me seeing the beautiful things either big and small and at the same time appreciating it.
That’s how my own perception when it comes to life and I visualize it using art. I also realize that Art
could indeed contribute a significant change in our lives so as in the society as a whole. The impact it
gives to every people whenever they an art and the realization that later on will hit them. One time I saw a
sad artwork that inspired by my favorite series and watching it gives me the feeling being sad and
emotional, well that’s the impact of art in oneself. One time I saw a digital art while I was scrolling on
Facebook, it is a sad but full of hope artwork of people who are given less opportunities because of
poverty, while seeing those pictures I somehow feel the contentment that I have in my life, being glad that
I get to eat 3 times a day while the others are suffering and I feel hopeful because seeing those children’s
with happiness in their eyes even though with their given situations, they still manage to put a curves in
their lips, that no matter how they are going through hope is visible in their eyes. Those are my thoughts
while seeing that artwork and made me realize that someday I could help people like them. See how Art
changes the perception of someone and how it imitates the life of somebody and communicating the
expression to the viewers.
Art is the freedom, where we make our own world, express our story, tells the tale of dead men
and visualize your own perception of things. Experiencing art is not only in the four wall of a gallery
center or a theater, but its broader than that. Art is everywhere, it could be the posters you saw in the
streets, the graffiti wall made by street artist or even the mural painting painted in the wall of school, even
you, you’re an art, a masterpiece made by the most amazing artist of the Heaven and Earth.
