Small Talk
“Small talk” is the kind of conversation we have when we meet someone new or the conversation
is just starting.

Question words
First, let’s review question words.
where Where are you from?
what What do you do?
when When did you come here?
how How long will you stay?
which Which plane did you take?
Small talk is the kind of conversation we have when we don’t know the person very well. Usually
it includes talking about the weather or the place, and often we ask questions. We can also start
some small talk when we make introductions, so the new person has some information to start a
conversation.
